My client, Anna, asked about her mom who was in a coma after surgery right before her death. Anna was unable to get to her mom's bedside in time and she died without her there to comfort her. Understandably distraught, Anna wanted to know if her mom had support from her angels and guides and also if she understood that her daughter was with her in love.
The higher consciousness of the angelic realm shares that Anna's mom was able to feel her daughter's love for her as well as her anxiety at not being with her at her time of parting. Once mom accepted that this was in fact her death she was experiencing, she allowed herself to feel her daughter's love. Her resistance left as her angels took over and surrounded her in the comfortable blanket of Unconditional Love.
This guidance and protection is available to us always. However, many of us are unable to allow ourselves to be soothed, just like many of us are unable to avail ourselves of opportunities which could create positive change in our lives. We have been trained not to see beyond the physical, although there is a much larger non-physical world.
Anna's mom, like many of us, was afraid of the Void, the space of the nothingness of all creation. For this reason her friends and families from other lifetimes beckoned her into the Light immediately. Her interpretation is she is in heaven. She is safe. Protected. Permeated with Light. She is able to recover whatever parts of her personality she might have left behind due to her body's deterioration. Of course this is not about the physical aspects but rather the spiritual part that seems to come second in our culture.
The dying do not need to be open spiritually to receive. However, if they are unaware, they may very well miss the signposts. They will "land" comfortably but not on what I like to call, "oceanfront property." If your loved one is in this position, you can beckon them into the light by opening your heart and guiding them yourself toward higher ground, the home of The Light. All it requires of you is a strong intention backed by your love to check in and help if needed. It's always a good idea to ask permission of their High Self first, otherwise it may be considered meddling or worse yet, you may be interfering with the deceased' path.
There is no one in misery in the dead-life unless they create it themselves. They receive what they expect and continue to create their own life as we do here. The difference in the dead-life is that we live in a world of acceptance and love. Here we live in a life of continual delineation of big from little, male from female, young from old. There is no judgment in the dead-life unless we choose to judge ourselves.
Funny characters that we are, many of us continue to do just that. If we passed on thinking we had gotten away with "murder" and we might have, we will value our skills of stealth and negative power. We will still have the opportunity to live in a loving environment. It's our choice. Some of us choose to reincarnate too rapidly before we understand the give and take of unconditional love; or we're on the opposite side and think we've assimilated all this love and won't forget what it feels like.
The challenge arises in the world of separation where we live today. It is the world man creates mentally. We come back into life on earth to experience what we think we know, loving acceptance. However, once we are birthed, we are back into the life of contrast in the physical. We forget it is possible to live life without judgment, without hate and anger. We forget that we are each part of the whole of Perfection.
It is only in our acceptance of ourselves and each other that change occurs for the better and we learn to live life on earth in a state of joy and loving gratitude.

Spiritual Play in Melbourne, Australia
Ian Cameron was reading my book, More Than Meets the Eye, when he got the inspiration to put together a play locally (Melbourne, Australia) to help people learn more about spiritual matters and take away their fear of death. Ian asked me to share the word about his play with my network. The play will feature three or four fascinating real life NDEs told by actors. Each NDE story will be about 20-30 minutes long when spoken aloud. Submitted stories will not be altered in any way. Some percentage of the any profits the play makes can be arranged. If you are willing to offer your NDE story and help create a wonderful an important play, you may email Ian at: give-to-receive[at]live[dot]com and type in "my NDE experience" in the subject heading of the email.

Why Ghosts Make Noise - It's Not For the Reasons You Might Think
By Melissa Van Rossum
Ghosts do some pretty bizarre things to get our attention. As someone who has interacted with ghosts since I was a child, I've seen and heard some pretty amazing things.
And they continue to happen...
Like the other night when I woke up to the sound of pacing in my hallway. There were two different sets of footsteps that night. One had a heavier step and a different pace from the other set. They seemed to be worried about something and they paced for hours.
After a while I was able to block out the noise and I went back to sleep. I realize that sounds like an unusual response, but unexplained noises happen so often in my life I just flow with it most of the time. Too, ghosts are really very egocentric. To them the only problems that exist are theirs.
They crave attention. Which is why they make the noises they do. They go through their days and nights mostly being around people who can't see or hear them. So they do what they can to get noticed. Being noticed often becomes a life purpose for many ghosts since they feed off of that attention.
I received an email recently from a reader who is regularly visited by spirits and we began discussing the creative ways in which ghosts and other spirits work to get our attention. Flashing lights, computer and other electrical disturbances are definite favorites.
That night I woke up at 3 a.m. and went into the bathroom, accidentally dropping something and making a loud noise. "Shhhh.." a bodiless voice said from inside the bathroom. It startled me but I knew she was just enjoying my attention.
She left quickly, so, off I went back to bed. I knew she'd be back. The next day I was downstairs with the kids when suddenly the upstairs toilet flushed. Since no one was upstairs at the time, we all thought this was a little suspicious.
About 15 minutes later it happened again. So, we all went upstairs for a while, and there was no flushing. Back we went downstairs, and again, more flushing!
I left the house for a little while and when I came back my husband said the pattern had continued. As long as someone was upstairs the toilet was quiet. But whenever we all went downstairs, the flushing continued.
Later that night I went up to my bathroom and found the ghostly gal who was working so hard to get our attention. Her name was Sandy and she told me she was lonely and bored. She felt angry and resentful over hard times and betrayals from her life as well as a tragic death. Her energy was a little threatening and distrusting. So, rather than running the risk of losing her again, I quickly turned the conversation to going home. She was ready and with my help, went to the Other Side easily.
Usually people think that ghosts haunt or make noise to scare or intimidate. Sometimes that's the case, but more often than not they make noise to get attention. Ghosts are stuck and unhappy and make noise for attention and help.

The Diagnosis of Death
By Dr Muhammed Rafeeque BHMS
The duty of a medical doctor is not confined only in the treatment of his patients, but also there are several other duties to be performed. One among them is death diagnosis, and in case of any unnatural death, reporting the same to the concerned authorities. When a person losses consciousness, a doctor should examine the victim to diagnose the condition and to do the needful. If the victim is dead, it is the doctors duty to declare that the person is dead. If a doctor is not available at the site, the situation has to be handled even by a layman. Hence it is very essential to know the basic techniques of first-aid and death diagnosis.
We all know that, death is the termination of the biological functioning of the living organism. It is the ultimate of every living creature on the earth. Once we are born, it is definite that one day our soul will leave the material body for ever. Scientifically, death is due to complete and irreversible cessation of the vital functions of the brain, heart, and lungs.
STAGES OF DEATH
The death occurs in two stages:
1.Somatic, systemic or clinical death
2.Cellular or molecular death
In somatic death, though life ceases in the organism as a whole, it can persist in different body parts, organs, tissues and cells. The body cells can survive for varying periods and can respond to various chemical, thermal and electrical stimuli. The period of survival of cells depends upon the oxygen demand. And when the cells and tissues die, it is considered as molecular death. Normally, molecular death is complete within 3 to 4 hours of somatic death. However, in common parlance, death means somatic death.
WHAT CAUSES DEATH?
Irrespective of the remote causes, a person dies as a result of failure of any one of these organs like brain, heart, lung. This is called the proximate cause of death. The remote causes may be due to injury, infection, blood loss, poisoning, drugs, tumors, malnutrition, dehydration, starvation etc. A sudden death may be due to failure of systems like cardiovascular, respiratory, CNS, abdominal, endocrinal, iatrogenic, special cases in children, malnutrition, disease, accident, injury, predation, suicide, homicide, war, and also due to some indeterminate causes.
SIGNS OF DEATH
The signs of death can be studied under three headings: Immediate signs, early signs and late signs.
Immediate signs: These signs indicate somatic or clinical death.
- Insensibility (Loss of sensation, movements and reflexes)
- Loss of EEG rhythm
- Cessation of circulation indicated by flat ECG and absence of respiration.
But signs like loss of sensation, movements, loss of respiration, absence of pulse and heart sounds etc are also seen in conditions like prolonged fainting attacks, vagal inhibition, epilepsy, narcosis, electrocution. Hence, such signs cant be considered with cent percent surety. They could however be taken as conclusive only when associated with total loss of EEG rhythm for a continuous period of 5 minutes and a flat ECG for 5 minutes.
Early signs: These signs denote molecular or cellular death, which follow about 12 to 24 hours.
- Algor motris: It is the cooling of the body after death.
- Postmortem lividity: It is the discoloration after death. It starts within 1 to 3 hours and gets fixed in 6 to 8 hours.
- Rigor mortis: It is the stiffness of body after death. It starts 2 to 3 hours after death and takes 12 hours to develop, persists for another 12 hours, and takes 12 hours to pass off completely.
Late signs: These signs represent the decomposition or decay of the dead body, or in certain situations, modification of the dead body into adipocere or mummification. Late signs follow after about 24 hours. The putrefaction of the body is indicated by the appearance of greenish discoloration which appears 12 to 24 hours after death. Marbling is the network like markings on the skin, which comes after 12 hours and becomes prominent in 36 to 48 hours after death. Maggots also starts appearing as a result of putrefaction.
BRAIN DEATH
It is the irreversible end of all cerebral activity, but brain stem is still working. When the brain death occurs, the victim can be kept alive by maintaining the working of heart and lungs with the help of sophisticated instruments and some drugs. The body can survive by maintaining the supply of the oxygenated blood to the brain stem. When the brain stem also stops working, it is taken as a significant indication of death.
SUSPENDED ANIMATION
This condition is also called apparent death. Here the vital functions of the body are at such a low pitch that they cant be detected by routine methods of clinical examination. Suspended animation may persist for a few seconds to several minutes. This condition can be noticed in apparently drowned, newborn, after anesthesia, cerebral concession, electrocution, heatstroke, mesmeric trance, overdose of barbiturates, opium, deep shock etc. Suspended animation can be revived by resuscitation techniques.
DIAGNOSIS OF DEATH
Diagnosis of death is not easy when it is performed immediately after death, specially by a inexperienced person. Rarely, some difficulty can be raised due to suspended animation, excessive doses of sedatives and hypnotics, hypothermia, alcohol intoxication etc. When you are asked to do the death diagnosis, the situation should be handled skillfully. The room where the victim is resting should not be overcrowded. Allow only a few people to be present at the site. There should be proper light, air entry and free from noises and other disturbances.
Inspection: The inspection should be finished in a few seconds without wasting much time. Look at the victim from head to foot and look for any body movements of chest, abdomen, wings of nose etc. Then feel the radial pulse. If it is not felt, go for carotid pulse lateral to the thyroid cartilage (never press both carotids at the same time, feel only one side without much pressing). Then take the stethoscope and auscultate the chest for heart sounds and respiratory sounds. If there is sings of cardiorespiratory failure, give mouth to mouth or mouth to nose respiration along with external cardiac massaging to resuscitate the cardio-respiratory function.
If no response even after the cardiac resuscitation, it is the doctors duty to confirm death of the victim. Once again confirm the cessation of respiration by keeping the stethoscope on chest/larynx for 5 minutes and also cessation of cardiac activity by keeping stethoscope on the precordium for 5 minutes. Feather test can be done to see for any current of air through the nose. Open the eyelids and move the head from side to side. If the eyeball is fixed and moves along with the head, it is a sign of death.
Take a clinical torch and check the eye for pupillary constriction when the light enters the eye. When the body dies, the pupil dilates and the cornea looses its glossy appearance. But this may not be clear immediately after death. And in those who are having eye lesions specially the aged with diabetes, the findings may be confusing. When a person dies, the pallor appear in a few minutes. Look for the capillary filling after blanching the victim's nails. In a dead body, the capillary refilling is not seen.
In case of doubt ECG and EEG monitoring can be done. A flat ECG for 5 minutes is an accepted evidence of death. Absence of EEG waves for five minutes confirms death. However, EEG and ECG are not required to give a death certificate since death diagnosis is possible by clinical examination in majority of cases. However, these tests are having a confirmatory value.
LEGAL ASPECTS OF DEATH
Legal aspects of death varies among different countries. There are difference in opinion on the definition of brain death. However, as per the modern thinking, a person is presumed to be dead if he cant spontaneously pickup and survive when the artificial means are withdrawn. The irreversible brain damage can be confirmed by a flat EEG.
In case of any signs of unnatural death or when the death is unexpected, the cause of death has to be confirmed by a medico-legal autopsy. Unnatural death may be an accident, suicide, homicide, or even may be a natural death but unexpected and taken place under doubtful circumstances. All cases of unnatural death cases should undergo a medico-legal autopsy to identify the exact cause of death, time of death, position of the body at the time of death etc. Hence it is the duty of a medical practitioner to inform the authorities whenever he comes across any unnatural death.

Remembering The Love That Was Ours in Death
By Suzy Morgan
One of my clients who is as interested as I am in what happens when we die, asked these questions about life in the afterlife.
1. "Are you saying that we come back through reincarnation with the intent to remember the love from the other realm (the dead life), but then we forget when we're in the physical?" Wouldn't we know this was going to happen before we're born?
2. "Is there a way to set a permanent intention before we're born so we will positively NOT forget, despite physical challenges? Can't we use a fail-safe mechanism to do this?"
Yes, no,no, no. Hah Here's what I hear from my angelic guidance:
1a. We come into the physical for two reasons. One is to experience life on this beautiful earth. Our experience is based on our level of consciousness. Low level, low life. High level, high life. By levels, I do not mean financial. Levels are a way of explaining life in our world of contrast.
What I do mean is that the more spiritually evolved we are, the higher the level of consciousness we have. Does this mean that at a high level of consciousness we do not experience pain or the pain that others feel? Not always. Often our experience of pain is to help others evolve as well as ourselves. Our experiences and reactions are always about us. It is only how we experience ourselves and each other that we can change. We learn to lead with our heart instead of our investments. Who we are is transparent to those who see beyond their 3rd dimensional (3D) eyes.
We can choose to see things differently, no matter what. A Face Book friend wrote that her husband was murdered. The man was never found. She's learned to let go and be healed. She realized the she had to forgive the murderer or live her life filled with poisonous hate and grief herself. Then the murderer would have killed not just her husband, but she would have wasted her own.
The second reason we come onto earth is to evolve spiritually. This does not mean that everything goes perfectly when we are enlightened or close to it. Look at Jesus, Martin Luther King, and even my enlightened friend, David, with more Near Death Experiences than the cat with 9 lives. What it does mean is we learn to take the high road. We learn to stand up for what matters and release what doesn't. We learn to forgive. To live compassionately. To love beyond the physical.
2a. Yes we know before we are born that life is tougher in the physical, but imagine that all you remember from your dead life is being loved, accepted and cherished. No judgment of anything or anyone. Your past evaporates from your mind's memories. After awhile you relax into a comfort zone of something akin to being dropped off at 5-star hotel in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean, with unlimited money and time to be with the people you choose. It's Nirvana. It's harder to motivate in Nirvana when you already have everything.
On earth, those on the lower end of the scale of consciousness think with our egos wide open, full throttle. We think only about us. We feel entitled to have anything and everyone we can take for ourselves. Those of us on the upper end tend to think of others and ways to make the physical world a kinder, gentler place.
There is no fail safe mechanism except evolving spiritually. We will never go backward on the scale of consciousness. A note of warning. If we are always measuring our deeds, we probably have a few more go-rounds at life on earth.

Human Hibernation
What does animal hibernation, near-death experience, and suspended animation have to do with saving lives? A very interesting documentary about lowering the body's metabolic rate to allow time for emergency medical treatment. See the remarkable video at http://dld.bz/aNJaa

Handling the End of Life Decisions of a Loved One With Alzheimer's
By Brian Willie
Unfortunately, there is likely to come a time in every caretaker's life when he or she is forced to make an end-of-life decision for a loved one with Alzheimer's. These choices are not easy and cannot only take a mental and emotional toll on a person, but can cause intense physical pain as well.
Ideally, before the Alzheimer's progresses to a point where your loved one is unable to make these important decisions on their own, discussions about their wishes should take place while they still have the capacity to decide what they really want.
People with Alzheimer's have a legal right to limit or pass up medical or life-sustaining treatments including the use of ventilators, antibiotics and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as well as artificial nutrition and hydration.
Through advanced directives, Alzheimer's patients can decide whether or not they want to be kept alive artificially should the need occur. To avoid putting pressure on your or another family member, you should encourage your loved one to make this decision as soon as they are diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
It's important to an individual with Alzheimer's that his or her family members do not argue with their decision or associate the choice to not receive treatments or be revived as assisted suicide.
Keep in mind that an Alzheimer's patient reaching the end of his or her life is likely to be in the very advanced stages of the disease and therefore incredibly confused and uncomfortable. For someone in this state, aggressive medical treatment could feel like torture and bring more pain than comfort.
If you are faced with making the important decision of whether or not to keep a loved one alive, think carefully about what he or she may have wanted. Consult with close friends and family members who know your loved one well and speak to doctors about what they believe would be best for your him or her.
The decision is never easy, but may arise, so talk to your loved one before the Alzheimer's progresses and they are unable to communicate to you their wishes.
