Life is Not a Coincidence – Part 2

Today we continue with our Wednesday series of informative articles created from my podcast interview with Sheryl Glick, the author of Life is Not a Coincidence, a book that tells about the numerous times and ways Sheryl’s loved ones have communicated with her. Here is another one of those instances. You may listen to the entire interview at http://dld.bz/bqFzj.

Yvonne: We still have consciousness in the afterlife, which is evident because of the signs we get from those on the other side of this veil. Talk about some of the signs that your deceased loved ones gave you with the birthdays. I know the number seven and eleven have real significance to you.

Sheryl: My mom passed on 11/7. She was born on the eleventh and she passed on 11/7. Numbers have great meaning for our destiny. The day we’re born and the day we die has great meaning. These things are not random.

My mother had promised me that she would get a message to me from the other side. Actually, she didn’t have much of an understanding of an afterlife but I was starting to believe in it and I said to her, “If anyone can get a message through to me it would be you” She had a very strong will. She was very curious about life and people. I said to her “Mom, what would be the message that you send me?” She said, “I will send three doves.”

I have received the three doves many times but aside from that whenever I see the numbers eleven seven, I feel her presence. There are other numbers that are so indigenous to her that I recognize some of the spirits who are around me. As an empath and medium, I feel the shifts in energy and I know when ghosts are around. It’s very comforting actually. It’s never frightening to me as it might be to some other people because I know they come to help us, to learn from us, or to assist us in fulfilling our destiny and life plan. If I ever were to feel an energy that was uncomfortable I would just disperse it: “One, two, three; you’re not welcome.” But I rarely have any negative energy because I only give out positive energy and deal with higher vibrational beings and loved ones for the purpose of living this life more joyously. Knowing who we are dispels fear and we can enjoy our life more.

Yvonne: Absolutely. Sheryl, you mentioned that your mom gave you the sign of the three doves and that you’ve seen that countless times since then, affirming that she truly is with you. I had a similar situation. I had an aunt who died about two and a half years ago. Before she passed we were sitting together watching The Ghost Whisperer, that CBS show with Jennifer Love Hewitt starring as Melinda Gordon. In this episode ghosts were pulling everything out of the china cabinet and tossing dishes across the room and breaking stuff. I turned to my Aunt Kathryn and said, “You’d better not do that when you’re gone; you better not play jokes on me like that.” She laughed! We agreed then that we would have a sign that would be an indication that she was trying to communicate with me. We picked something that is not seen every day. It’s not something that we could miss or wonder if it was really her. We picked a cameo. Now you don’t see a lot of cameos these days. That was something in the 1800s when a lot of women wore a cameo choker, necklace, or pendant of some sort. I know why we chose it. She lived in a house on Cameo Court when I was a teenager and I loved to visit her there. So we chose the cameo or silhouette to be her sign. Kat was a smoker and she died of lung cancer. After she passed I smelled cigarette smoke in my house periodically throughout one day. Nobody had been in our house with a cigarette. Neither my husband nor I smoke. I immediately thought of my aunt.

Sheryl: Psychic smells are another way that mediums and empaths are able to give information to their clients from relatives who are trying to make themselves known. You just know from certain experiences who it is!

Yvonne: I did! A few hours later my husband came home and he also smelled cigarette smoke. Now that’s was really crazy because but he didn’t spend a lot of time with her like I did growing up. So the next day, I went on Facebook and there was this woman who had sent me a little link to her website and guess what she was selling? CAMEOS! She was selling antique collectable cameos and wanted me to take a look. That was more than coincidence. That didn’t just happen randomly. It was comforting to me for my aunt to give me that sign. It was near her birthday so I thought she was checking in. I told her happy birthday and wished her well in the afterlife and sent her love and light. Then we didn’t smell the cigarette smoke again until almost the anniversary date of her death in November.

Are You Different in the Afterlife Than You Were in Life?

By Melissa Van Rossum

Although I didn't realize it at the time, when I was five, my favorite playmate was a ghost. She was in her 40s and a mother of three and she stayed with me for several years before finally finding her way home.

I've interacted with ghosts all of my life and as an adult I began doing psychic and mediumship readings for clients.

One of the questions I'm often asked is if our personalities are the same in the afterlife as they were in life.

The answer is yes, mostly.

It depends which afterlife reality you're living.

We can stay earthbound and become a ghost, which is a person who has left their body but has not yet crossed over to the Other Side for various reasons. But this is not a wise choice.

Or we can cross over to the Other Side. Which is what most of us do. And this is the best choice.

In both cases certain parts of our personalities stay the same and certain elements change.

In the situation where someone stays earthbound, their personalities tend to become one dimensional and limited in expression. They become single-minded about their fears.

Those who choose to stay earthbound tend to do so out of dread or anxiety. Most often they're afraid of what they think will be an angry and judgmental God and they're afraid of some type of punishment or rejection.

The longer they stay here, the more afraid they usually become.

Once someone crosses over though, they have a very different experience from someone who is earthbound.

Jennifer, a client of mine who is intuitive, lost her aunt recently to an illness. Elizabeth was a terribly negative person. When she was alive it was challenging to maintain any kind of a relationship with her since she took every chance to deflate the people around her.

After she died, though, Jennifer began regularly hearing from her aunt. Immediately Jennifer noticed that her aunt had lost her negative disposition.

Even more interesting, Elizabeth apologized for her attitude and how she had treated those she loved. She told Jennifer she realized now that she didn't have to act the way she had.

Jennifer was amazed. Her aunt's personality was still basically the same, but the hurtful negativity was completely gone. And Elizabeth was apologetic and insightful about her limiting beliefs and behaviors. Jennifer mentioned to me that Elizabeth was never insightful or self-aware when she had a body.

It was very comforting and healing for Jennifer to see her aunt growing and changing in such positive ways that she would not have while she was here.

Those that cross over receive immediate insight and healing that those who remain on the earthplane do not. That insight and healing helps people to release the more limiting parts of their personalities, allowing them to love and care for us in the ways that they could not when they were here.

Melissa Van Rossum is an accomplished psychic & empath, & the author of two books. In her first book, All You've Ever Known, she shares a process that deepens your intuition & awakens your soul to a happier, more successful and authentic life.

In Their Way Home, My Adventures as a Ghost Guide Melissa offers revealing perspective as she shares for the first time the very personal stories of her encounters with real life ghosts who searched her out in their quest to find a way back home, and how she helped them to cross over in to the Light. Plenty of books have been written about ghost sightings but in this book Melissa shares the stories behind why these souls chose to linger on the earth plane and how you can live a happier life by learning from the mistakes they made in life...and in death.

Melissa regularly speaks to the media & groups on topics such as How to Create the Life of Your Dreams, Ghosts and The Paranormal, and What Happens After You Die. You can learn more about Melissa and her books at http://www.allyouveeverknown.com/ and http://www.theirwayhome.com/

Life is Not a Coincidence – Part 1

Sheryl Glick’s book, Life is Not a Coincidence, tells about the numerous times and ways her loved ones have communicated with her. In my podcast interview with her she shared a few of those instances. I’ll post the relevant parts of our conversation in a series of articles on this blog. Look for them each Wednesday. You may listen to the entire interview at http://dld.bz/bqFzj.

Yvonne: How did you begin to communicate with your loved ones on the Other Side?

Sheryl: It all began with a dream that I had 19 years ago or I thought it was a dream. I felt a shadow next to me while I was sick with the flu and sleeping. I felt a shadow and I sensed it was my grandfather, who had been dead for thirty-five years. He was trying to say something to me. I couldn’t hear him with my ears but I sensed that he said that I had to write something for my father. I had no idea what was going on. The next day I got a call from my mother that my father had passed. I wrote Dad’s eulogy but I couldn’t quite believe that my grandfather had really visited me because I had not been brought up to believe in a spiritual visitation or life after death. I just thought it was a dream.

Some years went by and through coincidence I read a book by John Edward, an international medium. He explained the difference between a dream and a spiritual visitation. A spiritual visitation stays with you. It’s like you never forget the feeling or the connection. When I realized that I indeed had a spiritual visitation, I said well where is my grandfather living? How am I going to talk to him again? Why did he come that night? I was off on a mission to learn more about spiritual communication and an afterlife.

Once you have your own experience with a “deceased” loved one, no one can take it away from you. You can read about this experience or talk to other people about it, but until you can actually feel and sense that connection, it’s not real to you. And that’s why it’s so difficult to talk about this with people who have not had those experiences. They’re just not ready to understand that everything is energy and that we are having an energy presence within our soul or essence. You can’t get them to realize that besides this physical life of ego or mind presence we have a duality—we are living two lives and we’re trying to merge the two together to have the best run of this physical life. We have to understand that we are an energy presence as well as a physical presence.

Yvonne: That is why we don’t end just because we exit the body. The spirit may leave the body but that doesn’t mean that’s the end of our existence.

Sheryl: Oh no! That’s the beginning of a new experience of another place. It’s like water. Water can be in three modes. It can be liquid, solid, or gas. It’s the same thing with our essence. We can be in different states of existence.

7 Signs Spirit May Be Communicating With You

By Joanna Garzilli

I'm always in awe when someone in spirit gives information I couldn't possibly know. If I wasn't having the experience, it would be hard for me to believe.

Your loved ones are often close by. They want to protect, guide, teach and heal your pain.

The more aware you become of the spirit world, the easier it will be for you to receive guidance from your spirit guides.

Who are your spirit guides?

Your spirit guides may be a deceased grandparent, parent, sibling, soul mate or best friend. You often have more than one spirit guide because they are present to support you in various areas of your life.

Here are 7 signs spirit may be trying to communicate with you:

#1 The message is in the music. Have you ever heard a song on the radio and felt like it was speaking to you? Did you notice how the words stood out? Did you become emotional?

#2 It's frightfully cold in here. If you feel very cold, shivery or have goose-bumps in a room that has no reason to be cold, it is likely that there is spirit activity in this place. Spirit vibrates at a higher frequency.

#3 Visitations in your dreams. Have you dreamt of one of your deceased loved ones and felt like it was very real? It is easier for spirit to connect with you while you sleep because your mind is at peace and you are receptive.

#4 You feel a spirit's presence. Just because you can't see a loved one doesn't mean they aren't there. If you sense it, know you are not making it up.

#5 You hear your own voice inside your head. When a deceased loved one speaks with you, it usually sounds like your own voice however it has a distinct feeling to it. You'll know because it is different from what you would think or say.

#6 Touched by an angel. Have you ever felt like someone is touching the top of your head, tip of your nose or is tickling your arm, yet nothing is visible?

#7 Electrical disturbances. Spirit love communicating through light bulbs, telephones, TVs and computers. Have you ever seen the lights flicker on and off? Or heard a lot of static on the telephone line? See if you can start noticing the difference between an electrical problem and when spirit is trying to make it's presence known to you.

The Other Side.

Becoming aware of the spirit world takes time. It's like switching the light off in a room and not being able to see in the dark. As time passes, your eyes adjust to the dark. You begin to see things you couldn't see before. This is how the realm of spirit operates. You will see.

Spiritual Awakening Now In Your Lifetime

By Adonis Alexander

Does spiritual awakening seem impossible? Have you ever wondered? Perhaps, at one time in your life you gave it some thought, but did not pursue it. Maybe, you gave up thinking spiritual awakening is something only a few can do. If possible at all.

Actually, you can discover God now. There is no reason why you should wait for the end of your life for an idea that may not be true. All the major religions of the world have made such promises to you. This cannot be substantiated until you are dead and gone. How clever.

So, in the meantime, they deceive and deprive you. You have no means of knowing if what they say is true. Therefore, their illusion continues because of your lack of understanding.

Why not awaken to spiritual understanding in this lifetime? Spiritual awakening is about you discovering life beyond this mortal life, here and now.

There is no need to accept what another proclaims. It is up to you to find out if there is eternal life. While you are alive, discover this truth within you.

Spiritual awakening is to realize you may see within yourself rather or not there is that which is called God, Truth, or Allah. In fact, that has no name so it really does not matter what name you use.

If you are serious about awakening, it is really quite simple. To listen and observe the working of your own mind holds the key. And, when you least expect it, there is this spiritual meditation that comes alive in you.

You cannot force it to come at all. Simply open the door of your heart and it is there. This spiritual silence is the doorway that is opened to all of us.

Through spiritual meditation, which is beyond the mind, you may awaken to the divine spirit, which is immortality.

This spirituality within you is pure intelligence. You have the power to transform the whole of humanity through your consciousness. Not in theory, but as an actuality.

In fact, none of the religions is interested in changing man. That is their illusion. To transform man in the true sense of the word is not in their best interest.

Actually, through spiritual awakening, you discover divine wisdom beyond all the religions. This intelligence transcends knowledge, which awakens within you. It is a total transformation of your perception. A complete change altogether.

Then perhaps, you will see the beauty of life beyond this existence. A life that is not an escape or dream. This reality is beyond the limitations of the mind and all its imaginations.

In fact, spirituality is to have the insight to see with complete clarity. Perhaps, you may watch the wonder of a stunning sunset across the immense waters of the ocean. As the last glimmer of sunlight fades away, it moves you so intensely, you can feel the beauty of it taking place within you.

Spiritual awakening is the light of blissful living. This awakening within is beyond beliefs, faiths and philosophies. It is the realization of being in love with an inexpressible joy beyond this existence.

Ultimately, it is the art of discovering what you are in truth. Now you may go beyond the idea of belonging to any religion or philosophy. To awaken spiritually is to realize the truth that transcends this mortal life. So, it is up to you to bring about this new life within yourself.

Overcoming Thoughts of Suicide

By Linney Elder

"You are given the gift of the gods; you create your reality according to your beliefs; yours is the creative energy that makes your world; there are no limitations to the self except those you believe in." - JANE ROBERTS - SETH

Chronic sadness, or grief, if not understood and dealt with may lead to depression and eventually to thoughts of suicide. I've been there. I know what it feels like and how hard it is to pull yourself back from that awful dark place.

I've experienced feelings of hopelessness in varying degrees from despondence, to despair and if I look back I can see the downward spiral of events that took me into the pit of depression.

Darkness is defined as the "absence of light". Surely then the way to combat the darkness is to "turn on the light".

The light could take the form of an idea or goal, a person, a book, a piece of music, an inspiring movie, or holistic healing of some kind.

When I was experiencing chronic depression, I didn't understand what was happening at first. I was experiencing all sorts of physical symptoms as well as depressing, dark thoughts.

I couldn't sleep, I lost my appetite, and I jumped for the slightest reason and had panic attacks when my heart would race. I cried for the slightest reason, I lost my train of thought in the middle of sentences, my concentration levels in general dropped, I felt tired all the time and my eyes were red, sunken and black ringed.

My skin colour became pasty. My hair was lifeless with no shine. I dragged myself out of bed and through my days. Basically, I hated my life and the person I had become. I could see no way forward out of the dark space I was in and that just made everything so much worse. I felt dreadfully alone. I didn't think anyone cared, or understood how awful I was feeling.

The harder I tried to do everything right and keep everyone happy, the more exhausted I felt and the worse the downward spiral became.

I eventually went to my local library in desperation and found various books on stress and depression, and that was where I began to recognise the symptoms I was experiencing. I realised I needed help, but I was so glad to find that I was not losing my mind after all!

Then a good friend suggested I might try a session of hypnotherapy, to help me relax. Hypno what? I had never tried anything like that before and felt a bit silly having to explain to a stranger why I was sitting in his therapy room. But as we talked I began to release the pent up emotions of frustration and anger, hopelessness and despair. Gradually, the cleansing tears began to flow and the healing process began.

I went for three sessions of hypnotherapy and they really did save my life. It helped me to relax initially, then to go into a deeper relaxed space where I could let go of some of the stress and finally into a very deep state where I found absolute peace.

It helped me to see things more objectively and to realise that I had been putting all the pressure on myself. The choices were all down to me. I didn't need to be the perfect wife, mother, daughter, sister, secretary and all the rest...

I immediately requested a transfer at work to a less pressured position, shortened my work hours a bit, stopped being so fussy and servile at home and learned to take one day at a time. I discovered homeopathic Rescue Remedy drops for those moments when I could feel myself becoming tense and over-emotional. I learned the value of deep breathing when panic attacks threatened to overwhelm me.

I began taking the dogs for walks on the beach and getting out more. I started painting and doing creative hobbies, which I found relaxing. I began writing in my journals again, which was such a therapeutic way for me to safely express what I was feeling, knowing that only I would read it.

Then I discovered the benefits of meditation. I could feel I was on my way back to a more balanced, happier, relaxed outlook. It took a long while, a lot of patience and inner-work, but I eventually began to like my life again - bit by bit.

The following words describe the downward and subsequent upward spiral that I experienced while going through depression and then finding my way back to the light.

Downwards:

• Fear
• Frustration
• Anger
• Overwhelmed / controlled
• Blame
• Hate
• Trapped
• Despondency
• Hopelessness
• Loneliness
• Despair
• Suicide

Upwards:

• Acceptance
• Surrender
• Face the fears
• Take responsibility
• Seek help moving forward - mental, emotional and physical
• Understand
• Express - creatively
• Release beliefs / people
• Forgiveness
• Learn to love / respect yourself
• Set new personal boundaries
• Surround yourself with positive people / community
• Plan
• List of achievable goals
• Take action - co-create your life one small step at a time
• Fun and Joy!

If you are experiencing thoughts of such hopelessness that you would rather cease living, you need to talk to someone right away! Don't wait. Find someone, anyone, to talk to. It often happens that a problem shared and worked through with someone else's loving, non-judgmental input can help you to find clarity and a way forward.

Overcoming thoughts of suicide is possible! Suicide is not the answer.

I wish you blessings of light.
