Caskets - Guidance on Eco-Friendly Burial

By Danny A Bishop

Nowadays it is possible to prepare an eco-friendly or green funeral service for your relatives with eco-friendly caskets and cremation urns. For households who do not like to harm the planet while placing their household to rest can include greener choices into their funeral set up. Green funerals are all about maintaining the funeral service simple, pure and elegant as possible by returning to nature in a way that won't harm the environments, but will actually retain the yard and enhance opportunities for birds it's about leaving the earth a much better place. The eco-friendly funeral movement is gaining momentum. Lots of people are choosing to be buried in caskets that don't create toxins and pollutants into the environment.

Initially, you will need to decide what to do with the dead body. There are numerous possibilities, all of which are green. An example may be cremation. Over the past several years, crematoriums are making an effort to lower their emissions. Despite minimal pollution, cremating may be better for the atmosphere compared to traditional funerals. If you like to pick a technique against cremation, go with burial, here you are burying your loved one in a green cemetery in an "Green" casket. Under these circumstances, the body eventually decomposes, becoming portion of the world. Many processes that are part of basic funerals, such as embalming, conventional coffins and concrete containers, delay this procedure, using unfavorable items to the planet. Eco-friendly graveyards do not let some of these circumstances to be exposed to the environment within their border.

With regards to memorials, there are many methods that can be obtained. Becoming increasingly popular, you may now pick from a variety of eco-friendly or green caskets. These caskets are biodegradable and are good for the earth. Most individuals find that there is a financial difference between green caskets and traditionally caskets. The least expensive, and likewise green casket, is the cardboard casket. This casket is as large as a usual casket; however it is shaped in more of a rectangular shape with a top that fits over it. Extremely cost-effective, card board eco-friendly caskets tend to cost more or less $50.

Keep it small. A funeral service of only a few close friends and family members creates far fewer wastes than inviting thousands of individuals, many of whom travel long distances to visit. For the service alone, keep things local and low impression. Print programs on recycled papers, use locally produced flowers, carpool during the procession, or even offer organic foods. Leave a living memorial. Instead of a more regular gravestone or mausoleums, consider growing a tree honoring the deceased. This funeral is not only more ecologically sounded than the traditional memorial, but also much more welcoming and hopeful.

Aside from donating your loved one's organs, selecting an eco-friendly caskets and urn there is another significant factor you need to think about. Select a green funeral ground. Eco-friendly funeral grounds support the healthy growth of local plants and creatures and take care of the land on which they sit from encroaching development.

Learning more about different kinds of caskets can certainly help anyone at the end. You can in fact find more details regarding coffins online.

Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back

By Roberto Sedycias
Every adult seems to have a finely tuned set of "alarm bells" that sound when a child tells a story that just does not seem real, so why would anyone believe a four-year-old who claims to have made a trip to heaven and to have met family members who have passed on and much, much more.

The scene is this: Colton Burpo, son of Todd and Sonja Burpo of Nebraska, needs an emergency appendectomy. As he begins to come out of the anesthesia, Colton is like any other little boy, but he has a story to tell his Dad.

It's not an instant tale, either, as it takes a long time to work its way through the youngster's psyche to the point where he can verbalize it. That his Dad would understand what he was about to hear from Colton comes from the fact that he is a pastor of a church.

Colton first tells his Dad that he met he great-grandpa while under anesthesia and while he was there he met God. By this point, most peoples' alarm bells would be going off, but in this case there was just something in the way it came out slowly.

For example, he told his folks that he met his younger sister, a girl who looked much like his older sister Cassie. The weird issue here is that Colton could not have known about his second sister, as she was stillborn. This, of course, made his folks sit up and take notice and they also contacted a Christian literary agent to see if there was a story there.

It turns out that there was a story there as Colton told his Dad, finally, that he had met with Jesus.
Now, the four- or five-year-old Colton, by this time, was never told of any of the grievous wounds suffered by Jesus, especially in his hands, so Dad was not convinced that Colton had made the trip.

He pulled his notes together and wrote up the 163-page book Heaven is for Real and they found a small Christian press that was willing to take a chance on it, ordering a 40,000-copy first run. It turns out that the Heaven is for Real is for real as a work, itself, as the 40,000 copies soon turned into 1.5 million copies and trips to the New York Times best-seller list. It's also been at the top of the Barnes and Noble's sales list and Amazon sales lists. Even Wal-Mart has picked it up.

Interestingly, not knowing how the response would be to the first run, they kept the advertising budget low and, using only key spots on Fox, CNN and the "700 Club," Heaven is for real gained some real weight, the kind of weight from which best-sellers are made.

The publishing house wasn't prepared for the response it received but its paperback division managed to cope with the demand.

What has made this book so special? It is the hope that it gives folks that there is something special waiting when we're called back to the Lord and put down our worldly burdens. That, with all of the uncertainty of the last decade or more, starting around 9/11, is something that people have been seeking.

Colton, by the way, is now 11 and hopes that each family who gains something from his visit is truly blessed.

Healing Wounds Through Understanding of Afterlife

By Kelli Glesige
In "More Than Meets the Eye," true stories of individuals and their encounters with near death experiences are shared. Yvonne Perry explains why death is not to be feared, why many of us do fear death, and ways to overcome our fears. We are given glimpses into what the afterlife holds.

Perry speaks about souls and the ceremonies we hold, ghosts and spirits, and our spirit guides which assist us on our journey. She touches on treatments for the remains of our loved ones. The sensitive subject of suicide is discussed. Euthanasia and the two types, active and passive, are talked about. Perry speaks of the benefits of having a Living Will and what it will do. She even includes a copy of a Living Will which when completed and photocopied, may be used as a legal document.

The concept of hospice care is explained, and it can be a great option for many families whose loved one has a limited amount of time left to live. Perry states that hospice comforts the whole family emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually while preparing for transition. It should be noted that hospice helps to heal, not cure, all issues.

Anyone who has lost a loved one or who has questions or uncertainties about death and dying will find the book helpful and informative. The whole process is portrayed as positive and uplifting. I found the first hand experiences to be quite interesting.

This book made me think about life and death in ways I never have before. One should find great comfort in knowing that all the stories had a common link among the individuals. It appears that we all go to a Light Source and find a better place with God. A consistent thread of all those having near death experiences or getting a taste of the afterlife is that there is a better place to go to than where we are now. That is definitely something to look forward to! Almost everyone having these NDE was reluctant to return back to the life we currently know to complete their living. This should provide comfort for those concerned about loved ones having already passed on. The comforting consistent message is that God loves us unconditionally.

"Our fear of death is an unrealistic fear. Death should be feared no more than birth, for there is no separation between the physical and non-physical realms." Perry gives comfort by stating that it does not matter what our religious background is, we may find comfort in knowing that our life on Earth is not all there is - that there truly is more than meets the eye!

Caregivers Setting Boundaries & Breaking Soul Contracts

There comes a point when it is time to give up clan, tribal, familial, and societal norms and expectations and move into the unknown in order for your soul to find acceptance and love. Often, this requires setting boundaries with others who have tried to control you. This is something many empathic people find difficult to do.

We came to Earth to inspire others, not to do everything for them, or to be something for them that they can be for themselves. We empaths came here to be examples of a more evolved human—one that goes beyond the norm and pushes the envelope of what humans previously believed they could do.

People know how to suffer, live in lack, and be sick. We Lightworkers came to demonstrate health, abundance, success, and happiness. We came to teach and demonstrate the Universal Laws of manifestation through thought, desire, attitudes, emotions, and gratitude. Accomplishing this mission may require that you give up the friends or relationships you have now—especially if they are harmful or holding you back.

There’s much said about being a martyr, and none of it (in my opinion) is positive. Our society heralds self-less caregivers as saints, but how many are cheerful givers? How many people really enjoy being a doormat? How many honestly want to give up their own lives and goals to care for another person who has manifested an illness? Our bodies obey the commands of our minds. If the body has become sick, it is because at some subconscious level the mind believes it should be or deserves to be ill. Perhaps there is some payoff that this person receives for being incapacitated. Dr. Henry Grayson’s book, Use Your Body to Heal Your Mind, deals with this in detail.

Is it the fear of what others (friends, family, or even your “patient”) will think of you that keeps you from putting the very draining and incapacitated person in a facility where they can be cared for by staff members who are trained for this purpose? I just finished reading a book titled What You Think of Me is None of My Business and it sets the record straight on why it is important to care for yourself and develop your own soul. Spirit is waiting for you to manifest your heart's desire.

If you are afraid that your “patient” won’t be cared for as well as you can care for them at home, then you are not allowing that person to have the experience that their soul set up for learning. Have you ever considered how taking on this kind of burden or responsibility could abort your own soul’s spiritual lessons? You may need to break soul contracts and sever any psychic ties you have with this person and allow them to find their own path through the suffering they have created for themselves (as a coach, I can help you with this). Their suffering does not have to be your suffering, unless you agree to it.

So, consider honestly answering a few questions.
  • It is a sense of obligation that keeps you duty bound to the bedside of a loved one?
  • How many burdens are you carrying that are not your own?
  • Why are you running interference and keeping another person from resolving karma?
  • Why are you allowing your own “temple of the Holy Spirit” to lay in ruins while you give, give, give?
  • How long will you allow others to make demands of you?
  • What can you do today to begin to care for yourself and stop worrying about what other people think of you?

The Main Reason People Are Affected by Entities or Earthbound Spirits

We are in a time of expansion both as a planetary shift and as a race of evolving human beings. The reason we see so much violence, social upheaval, and physical planetary changes right now is because Earth is expanding through the fourth dimension of “hell.” Since we are along for the ride, this expansion is affecting all living things on the planet.
Earth is surrounded by a dimension where negative human thought forms are collected and earth-bound souls reside. Earth-bound souls are human spirits who have died without enough consciousness to get themselves through the 4-D barrier and “go through the tunnel light” and enter the fifth dimension. Christians would describe the beautiful, peaceful, light-filled fifth dimension as “heaven.”

Because being immersed in a sea of negative thoughts is emotionally torturous and the soul cannot die, the fourth dimension could be considered the “hell” mentioned in the Bible. A person who is able to see into the fourth dimension would see the energy of the first three chakras, which are red, orange, and yellow. This dimension would look like fire.

Most souls stuck in the fourth dimension have an addiction to substances such as drugs, alcohol, food, sex, power, money, or control of others. They desire to relieve their addiction by obtaining their substance of choice. Thus, they live vicariously through humans by attaching themselves to the body of a one who is practicing a similar addictive behavior or using substances in a harmful manner. These entities feed off of the energy or rage, anger, greed, fear, and inappropriately expressed sexual energy.

People who are most susceptible to being drained by earth-bound souls are those who are not in control of their emotions, and are operating empathically without any energetic boundaries or protection in place. When untrained, these highly-sensitive people (empaths) are like psychic sponges soaking up all the negativity within the fourth dimension. This is why so many people who are depressed and suffering from anxiety attacks can sense something bad about to happen even before it’s noticed in the physical dimension.

So what do we do about this? First of all, get help in overcoming any addictions you may have! In order to find peace, empaths must learn to clear and protect their auric fields and begin to connect with the Divine within themselves and in Mother Nature. I teach how to do this in two of my books. Whose Stuff Is This? ~ Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You teaches how to set boundaries with entities (see chapter 10). It’s the training manual for highly-sensitive who truly want to understand and begin to use their empathic gift for the good of all.

Once you understand and begin practicing the concepts in that book, you will find the next step toward spiritual evolution in Shifting into Purer Consciousness ~ Integrating Spiritual Transformation with the Human Experience. That book teaches how to shift your negative thoughts and raise your vibration so you are no longer bothered by souls in the fourth dimension. Then, you can begin to work with more evolved spirit beings who can help you discover your authentic self and develop your mission and purpose for being on Earth during such a time of transition.

Is there something we can do to help these souls (earthbound spirits) get free? I’m glad you asked! Yes, we can send divine energy to them to help them make their transition into the fifth dimension. If you are sensitive to earth-bound spirits or are a medium, you may have a special gift for helping the souls make their transition. However, anyone can provide energy to anyone, in body or not.

The best and most powerful kind of energy we can offer them is forgiveness. Due to their insatiable desire to acquire substances while in body, many of these souls perpetrated harm upon others. They may feel guilt, shame, or that they will be punished if they go into the tunnel of light. Our ego or small self would certainly agree that they do deserve punishment, but our Divine self would say, “Grace and peace be unto you!” or “There is no condemnation in the Christ Consciousness!”

Here’s a simple ritual to use for assisting lost souls:

Light a candle and call in the helpers who walk with you in spirit: angels, archangels, ascended masters, celestial light beings, etc. Ask them to assist with this energy work. Using your imagination, create a ball of light in front of you. Send love, forgiveness, grace, peace, harmony, and other positive energy into that ball of light. Offer this light to your beloved spiritual helpers and ask them to distribute it to those in the fourth dimension who are asking for help. Ask your guides to create the tunnel of light and show it to the “deceased” and let them know it is safe to enter paradise.

Yes, this is very much like the Catholic faith practice of praying loved ones out of purgatory. There is truth and beauty in every religion!

The Journey Home - What Near-Death Experiences and Mysticism Teach Us About the Gift of Life

By Richard Stooker

Although the connection is obscured by the drama of the circumstances under which they occur, according to the author near death experiences are another form of mystic episodes.

People throughout history have had times when they spontaneously -- or deliberately sought, though religious practices -- felt a deep connection with the Universe, Life, God, Love... however you may term it. It's often called cosmic consciousness.

People describe it in different times, but it's evidently a time of extremely heightened awareness of the ordinary world as some form of illusion. Or at least that the ways we view and experience space/time is an illusion, and that beyond it is a fundamental reality given various terms.

Of course, the main difference between these types of experiences, which can occur at any time, and NDEs is that the latter are much more dramatic and have elements that can be verified.

If a friend tells you they had a profound experience of God while mowing their lawn, you may or may not be impressed.

However, if that same friend suffers a heart attack, goes into a flat line coma but later recovers talking about the Light, you're going to be more impressed. That's especially true if they can accurately describe what happened in the hospital operating room while they were technically dead. Especially if the ER doctors and nurses confirm it.

When people have no heart beat, their brain is receiving practically zero oxygen. When their EEGs are flat, their brains have no measurable activity.

This is not a state of sleep or dreaming -- which is totally normal and natural -- it's a state where our brains are not even functioning. They certainly should not be able to think in the slightest, let alone go through profound experiences of journeying through a tunnel, meeting dead loved ones and so on.

Berman however examines both states by interviewing people he's met through the years. He lets the people tell their fascinating stories in their own words, and how their experiences changed them.

He makes the case that going through these kinds of peak experiences is psychologically healthy, based on how people have changed afterward.

He makes the final point that life after death does remain unproven, but that death is a wake up call to live our lives better.

I agree, but find it hollow in the face of tragic grief.

And at some point, even if we live our lives very well, we'll be faced with the loss of a loved one or, at least, our own death. Then we'll want to know the reality.

Are You Being Visited by a Ghost, a Loved One From the Other Side Or an Angel? - 5 Ways to Know

By Melissa Van Rossum

Everyone receives visits from ghosts, loved ones from the Other Side and angels. Even though many of these visits are meant to be comforting, sometimes the presence of an otherworldly visitor can be unnerving and even frightening. Knowing who these guests are, however, and why they're visiting you can make their visit easier and often, even comforting.

Here are three ways you can tell these visits from one another:

1.Ghostly Visits - Visits from a ghost, or the earthbound spirit of a deceased individual, usually bears several tell-tale signs. First, their presence is typically not comforting. When you're around a ghost you feel watched - even if you're alone in the room. You might even begin to feel unexplained nervousness, sadness or depression. You may feel sudden cold spots in the room or, in some cases, you might even see a ghostly human image - if only for a moment. Some people have seen a kind of blur or a flash of movement when no one else is in the room.

2.Visits from Loved Ones from the Other Side - A visit from a loved one who is on the Other Side is a very different experience from a ghostly visit. While you can also feel a cold spot or a temperature shift when a loved one is around, you typically don't feel nervous or uncomfortable when it happens. Along with the slight temperature shift, you may begin to reflect on memories of that loved one. Our loved ones often bring messages of encouragement when we need it, so you're more likely to feel loved and comforted when they're around. When a deceased loved one is around, we often start thinking of them and feeling their presence and reflecting on our memories of them as a result. For example, Tony, a hairstylist, feels his grandmother nearby whenever he is thinking his way through some of his life's challenges. He smells her perfume, remembers her advice, and begins to feel the comfort she offers him. Visits from loved ones are a very positive, healing experience.

3. Angelic Visits - Angelic visits feel a bit different from when our loved ones visit. There is definitely a shift to a cooler temperature and often a slight breeze. You might even see sparkles of light where they move. Sometimes, because their energy is so pure and their vibration is so high, you can even feel a bit dizzy. Angels are available whenever we need them - they help us ease through conflicts and protect and comfort us through frightening times, though they most often respond to our calls and requests for their help. Angels are present with newborns and small children to comfort and protect and to pass on messages to their parents and caretakers. After my son was born, an angel appeared to me and gave me a message about his life purpose. While she was with us, the air around us felt as though we were on the top of a mountain. Unlike ghosts, an angel's presence always has a purpose. They often bear a message or ensure protection and because of this you usually feel comforted, assured, loved and happy.

Melissa Van Rossum is an accomplished psychic, empath and author. It is her life's work to help people awaken to their dreams by showing them how to tap into their own Divine Guidance. In her first book, All You've Ever Known, Melissa reveals a process to deepen your intuition called TruAwareness. Her latest book, Their Way Home shares for the first time the very personal stories of her encounters with real life ghosts who searched her out in their quest to find their way home. Plenty of books have been written about ghost sightings but in this book Melissa shares the stories behind why these souls chose to linger on the earth plane and how you can live a happier life by learning from the mistakes they made in life, and in death. Suicide - A Disillusioned Expression of Freedom

By Anna Bartoszewicz

We all have moments of feeling low and desperate, surrounded by darkness with no way out. For most of us it is just a passing emotion or stage in life that once is passed, makes us stronger, but unfortunately for some it's the ultimate solution. Sometimes suicide is just an unfortunate moment of desperation, when there was no-one around to help and stop it. Sometimes it is a planned action, with careful preparation. Whatever the scenario is, it leaves those around, with the question WHY?

Families and closed ones often struggle afterwards with the question how they could prevent it. Quite often sadly even the symptoms are missed and totally unnoticed.

Rather complex issue is the assisted suicide. It's hard to judge how we would act being in endless pain, or seeing our loved ones in unbearable suffering. Suicide definitely touches both: physical and mental aspects of human life.

The Oxford Dictionary definition of 'suicide' is 'the action of killing oneself intentionally'. So it's not the accident. It is planned. It is wanted. That once again brings the question 'Why'.

There is increasing popularity of suicidal forums and blogs where people are looking for companions to kill themselves. It is a shocking discovery to find that the Google keywords relating to the word 'suicide' show that the terms like 'suicidal', 'suicides', 'why suicide', 'how to suicide',' suicide methods', 'commit suicide' 'suicidal thoughts' bring a multimillion, or at least thousands of worldwide searches every month, while the keywords like 'suicide help', 'suicide solution', 'suicide project' bring only below 1000 or a hundred...

From the religious point of view, taking your own life away is conflicting with the God's plan and power. He is a giver of life and he should decide when someone's life ends. Even when taking the religious aspect away, it is still hard to deny that our life belongs to us, but it was not our decision to create it. So many parents left in pain, asking why their children decided to take their own life away, having so many brilliant opportunities ahead of them. On the other hand there are children left with no parents. What is' the phenomenon' of the suicide...Is it an act of cowardliness or a total desperation when the life seems just too much. What could be the solution? Maybe media should focus more on suicides prevention, instead of getting overexcited when it happens and splashing the stories on the front pages. Maybe Education system should come up with some programmes and strategies teaching what to do when you feel suicidal. Every life saved, is so worth it.

According to Sartre, suicide was the highest exhibition of human freedom. We are so free and powerful that we can take our own life away. At his time, some people representing Bohemia used to party and then kill themselves to show their ultimate freedom. Was it really a freedom? And what for to express it like that? Are there any other ways? - Of course there are- More positive ones, without leaving others in pain.

It is not a pathetic statement that every one of us has someone who cares, who if they knew, would go extra mile to stop this definite and irreversible act. That includes those on the other side of the suicide helpline phones who sacrifice their own time and do not take any money. Some of them are:

USA - Tel. 0808 802 5858, 1-800-784-2433

UK- Tel. 08457 90 90 90, 0800 068 4141

Australia - Tel. 13 11 14, 1800 18 SANE (7263), 1300 78 99 78

Whoever feels suicidal should at least give it a chance, and give the chance themselves. That would be an ultimate freedom and love to one selves, if we would give us a chance before doing something that we can't even regret, as we might not to be there to do that. Truly pointless...Hope never dies.

Highly Sensitive People May Communicate with Ghosts

When I stopped using my own energy to offer healing to others, the empathic attacks lessened, but I was still able to see and hear in the spirit realm. Disembodied souls would awaken me during the night and hover overhead, staring at me until I woke up. I heard things no one else heard and I could feel the energy of ghosts around me. I even wrote a book about it, More Than Meets the Eye True Stories about Death, Dying, and Afterlife. I’ve always been sensitive to the energy of “deceased” people.

Jerry, a friend of mine, was fatally stabbed in the parking lot of a Kroger store in 2007 while trying to stop a man who had stolen a purse from a 60-year-old woman. When I heard Jerry had died, I was immediately catapulted into an empathetic episode like I had not experienced since I was serving as an intercessory prayer warrior in the city of Muncie in the mid-1990s. The grief-like energy I was carrying for Jerry's friends and family was so severe that after two days, I finally called on an energy-worker friend, Cherise Thorne, to clear me so I could stop sobbing.

After that, I put up some really strong protective barriers to keep from taking on other people's energy, but Jerry didn’t seem to get the message. His spirit hung around me for more than a week following his death. I didn't want to do what he was urging me to do—contact his mom and sister (Dianne) and give them a message from him: “Tell them I am with Mason.” The message didn't mean anything to me. I wasn't sure if Mason was a person, a pet, a bricklayer, or a lodge member. I hesitated sharing this insight because I didn't know how open his sister and mom were to having a stranger give them a psychic message and I didn't want to add to their grief. What if I was wrong and the message had no relevance to them?

However, Jerry was insistent, and at the time, I didn't know how to make ghosts go away. So, I found his mother’s address and wrote a letter giving her the message with my phone number and return address. I didn't hear anything from the family until nearly two and a half years later when I got a letter from his sister, stating that she finally knew what the message meant. He had visited with a friend who was a cashier at the store the day Jerry was killed. Her name was Mason.

Elder Home Care - How to Elder Proof A House

By Lyn Vincent

Every elder wants to stay in his or her own home for as long as their health would allow them. In achieving this goal, several changes within the home would be necessary. Deterioration in health, reduced mobility, weakness, falls, arthritis, poor vision, dementia are some of the conditions that may affect functional ability and thus increase the risk for accidents and injury in the home. These changes would promote safety, encourage functional independence and help carers carry out their function more efficiently. Below is some equipment to help make the home elder proof.

Elder Proof Lounge - As frailty begins to have its toll on the elder performing simple task such as sit to stand from chairs and sofas becomes difficult and more effort is required to accomplish the task. Raising the height of chairs and sofas would make a difference as the added height would make it easier for the elder to sit to stand independently with or without the use of hands. Chair raisers are used in elevating low chairs in the home. The riser recliner chair is also a suitable option for those who can afford it. It is particularly beneficial to those who have no strength to push up from sitting.

Elder Proof Bedroom - Getting in and out of the bed is another difficulty the elder could encounter in the home; he may consider trading in a very high bed for a bed with an ideal height or get bed raisers to raise a low bed. A bed loop is a useful tool in completing bed transfers and so is a leg lifter. Electric beds are also beneficial if they can be afforded.

Elder Proof Bathroom - Grab rails, bath boards and bath seats are useful tools that could be fitted to help getting in and out of the bath become easier for the elder. A bath lift is a better solution if this can be afforded. Shower stools or shower seats could be used in the shower. Other options if the elder is willing to consider it would be converting the bath room into a shower room or perhaps a wet room.

Elder Proof Toileting - Many elders are particularly concerned with their toileting due to increased urinary frequency and urgency. A commode is a welcomed option for night use as it can positioned close to the bed. An elder with much reduced mobility would also find the commode beneficial during the daytime due to ease of access. The glideabout commode is a commode on wheels. Carers prefer this option as it could be used for transportation within the home. A grab rail or toilet frame gives the elder something to hold on to if he /she depend on the use of the hands in sitting to standing. A toilet which is too low for the elder can also be fitted with a raised toilet seat.

Elder Proof Kitchen - A perching stool is a useful tool in the home for completing simple everyday tasks such as washing up, preparing drinks or simple meals as the elder might need a resting spot when performing these tasks. The perching stool can also be used in the bathroom for strip washing, brushing or shaving. A kitchen trolley is useful in transporting drinks and meals from the kitchen.

An elder who lives in a house with steps or/and stairs may want to consider the following adaptations in the home:

- Stair rails and grab rails

- Stair lift - Convert steps to ramp

- Consider downstairs living if there is enough space for a bed and access to a bathroom and toilet In the event where the above adaptations to the home will not make much difference, the elder may need to consider relocation to a step free bungalow.

De-cluttering the home would create enough space for mobility and equipment and also reduce the risk of a fall. Removing all loose rugs and carpets and ensuring that wires and cables are safely tucked away or taped would also reduce the risk of a fall.

It is very important that the necessary permission is obtained from the house owner before commencing with any adaptation in the home.

Making a home elder proof can be an expensive project and it may be beneficial for the elder to consider applying for a grant from the local authority or applying to the local authority to provide some if not all of the equipment. It is worth knowing that each local authority have strict criteria for granting applications.

An elder proof home may be expensive but it is worth it.

Is there Physical Evidence That We Live More Than One Life?

By Roy Stemman

Not only do many of world religions embrace the concept of reincarnation but New Age followers with no religious affiliations are increasingly adopting it into their personal philosophy of life. Which means that around half of our planet’s inhabitants – including Hindus, Buddhists and Jains – believe we live more than one life on Earth.

But where’s the evidence to support that belief?

It is surprisingly abundant, as I have set out to show in The Big Book of Reincarnation (Hierophant Publishing, June 2012). The book is the culmination of 50 years of study, during which I have not only researched the history of belief in rebirth but also met many individuals who are convinced they can recall one or more past lives. I’ve also interviewed most of the leading scientists involved in reincarnation research and twice visited the Lebanon, during the making of a British TV documentary, to investigate cases within the Druze community, for whom reincarnation is the cornerstone of their religious beliefs.
There is no shortage of reincarnation cases to investigate, if you know where to look, but finding the perfect case – one that satisfies the most diligent of researchers as well as hardened skeptics – has proved impossible until now. There are, however, some extremely impressive cases which, although not watertight, are very difficult to explain persuasively with any other theory.

Much of this evidence revolves around children who begin talking about a previous existence almost from the moment they can speak. Some chide their parents for not having things they enjoyed in the life they claim to remember: perhaps a car, servants, fine food and clothes or good schooling. A few even try to run away to find their past-life family.
Toran “Titu” Singh, born in a village close to the Taj Mahal in northern India, was typical of such children. He began speaking at the age of one-and-a-half, sooner than his five siblings, and early on he demanded, “Tell my grandfather to look after my children and my wife. I am having my meals here and I am worried about them.”

Asked by his mother who he was, Titu replied, “I am from Agra. I don’t know how I came here.” Later, he admonished his mother with the words, “Mummy, please don’t go out in these clothes. I feel embarrassed by them. My wife had beautiful saris.” He also told her: “Your house is dirty. I will not stay. My house is very big.” When expected to walk or take a bus, he complained, “I used to go by car. I will not go on foot or in a bus.” As he grew older, he would cry almost every day saying he wanted to “go home”.

He recalled many details of a previous life when he was Suresh Verme and owned Suresh Radio, a shop in Sadar Bazaar in Agra. Suresh, who was also a noted smuggler on the black market, was shot dead on 28 August, 1983. Titu’s memories were so accurate and detailed that his past-life wife and parents accepted the boy as Suresh’s reincarnation.

As a journalist, I realised when I encountered these stories – minutely researched and carefully documented in scientific and parapsychology journals – that they deserved a wider audience. I launched a magazine, Reincarnation International, in 1994 to share some of these reports with a wider public. The publication also examined the similar memories that are often recalled by adults under hypnosis, though I view these with far more skepticism for the simple reason that their minds have already been exposed to a wealth of information from books, movies and television that could influence or even produce the dramas they recall during a hypnotic regression.

Reincarnation International later evolved into Life & Soul Magazine whose editorial scope broadened to look at other evidence of an after-life. But, like so many specialist magazines, it eventually ceased publication, in 2001, as the impact of digital publishing began to make itself felt.

However, with a wealth of material that was unpublished and with fascinating new reports and research continuing to appear in academic journals, it was time to put all this information together into a single volume that sets out to answer many of the questions that puzzle those who delve into past lives.

Do we all reincarnate? Do we return as the same sex? What role, if any, does karma play?  Do we have soul mates? Are we part of a group soul? Do animals have souls? Where do new souls come from?

A total understanding of reincarnation is only possible if we can provide answers to most of these questions, but acceptance of reincarnation for most people will depend on far more than philosophical conjectures.

Fortunately, reincarnation research has taken us beyond that with impressive new evidence that some individuals are not only born with memories of a past life which are subsequently verified but also bring with them into their new life physical evidence that appears to corroborate those claims, in the form of birthmarks and birth defects. For example, scars on his head, coinciding with the entry and exit of the bullet that killed him in his previous incarnation, are also a notable feature of the Titu Singh case, mentioned earlier.

I have dedicated The Big Book of Reincarnation to the memory of the late Dr Ian Stevenson, a professor of psychiatry whose ground-breaking two-volume study of such cases has added considerable weight to the already impressive volume of evidence collected over several decades. My book deals with some of these cases in detail and also provides an overview of his work.

Stevenson was a cautious scientist who, for most of his career, referred to his special area of interest as cases suggestive of reincarnation. This reflected the fact that none of the cases he investigated provided 100 percent evidence. However, it is clear that he eventually accepted reincarnation as the best explanation for some of the claims he investigated.
It’s a view I share. In presenting the case for reincarnation, I have also been at pains to explore alternative theories and to dismiss some claims that can be interpreted adequately by more mundane explanations.

However, even if we refute some of the evidence as wish fulfillment, forgotten memories or other psychological aberrations, we are still left with an important residue of cases which indicate some individuals appear to have been born with memories of a former life and that cannot be explained by normal means.

When a child is able to describe a previous existence and name the key players in that life, even directing his new family to the village in which he or she was born and identifying the former home and various relatives, it either challenges our understanding of human perception and memory, or points very clearly to the possibility that a soul is not destroyed when the body dies, but continues to exist until a new “home” is available for it to occupy. And when that new child – animated by an “old” soul – is born, displaying marks and defects that, it soon transpires, mirror wounds or injuries from that previous life, then it is time for humanity to ponder the enormous implications of that discovery.

It is easy to dismiss such cases as oddities that simply cannot be explained–and do no more about them. But they have occurred for centuries and show up in most cultures. The numbers are small but sufficient to be recognized as a phenomenon that deserves intense study.

After all, they could provide the answer to the age-old question: “Do we live after we die?”

Hospice Services: Providing Comfort During Trying Times

By Gwendlyn Price

What are hospice services?

Hospice is the concept of catering to the needs of those whose life expectancy has been predicted to be 6 months or less. It is a concept that dates back to the time of the Crusades in the 14th century. Religious orders during that time, however, prevented its growth. Modern hospices came to be during the 1960s, starting in Great Britain. From there, the practice grew and spread to the United States, and parts of Europe and Asia.

Once all efforts to cure the patient of his/her disease have been exhausted, hospice care is recommended. The practice is palliative in nature. Palliative is the field of healthcare that focuses not on curing, but in preventing and reducing the suffering of a patient. This type of care allows the patient to live his or her last days with dignity.

Why and when should we consider hospice?

The idea of being diagnosed with an incurable disease is a tough pill to swallow. For the patient, it's an overwhelming experience that is difficult to deal with. There is so much uncertainty that comes with knowing you only have a limited amount of time left. While some are intent on treatment in the hopes of curing their disease, most cases don't end so well. In some cases, continued curative treatment only makes the body weaker.

Hospice services should be considered once a doctor diagnoses inevitability. This means that the doctor has predicted a certain timeframe left for the patient. Hearing news like this will, without a doubt, stir up emotions of fear and sometimes even anger. Once you start entertaining the idea of hospice care, remember that it is not proof of hopelessness. Believe that by making the decision, patients aren't giving up. Rather, they are taking control by deciding what to do with the remainder of their lives.

Where is hospice care provided?

In most cases, patients choose in home hospice care. Most services provide this option with the understanding that patients would rather be in the privacy of their own homes. If in home hospice care proves to be too strenuous, options such as inns and other facilities may be available as well.

What can I expect from this service?

First of all, you can expect counseling and guidance through you and your loved ones' trying times. Professionals will help the patient and his/her family members understand and cope with the issues at hand. No one knows the pain endured by someone who knows his or her end is coming. Patients often find themselves dealing with so many previously unrealized frustrations, and that's something that the treatment method caters to.

Apart from helping relieve all mental and emotional anguish, the practice also highlights the spiritual needs of a person. Patients can expect that through this palliative treatment method, whatever spiritual concerns they have will be attended to. Dealing with grief and bereavement also come later.

While hospice services might sound like a good option from the get go, remember to discuss the topic with care. Make sure that the patient is emotionally prepared to avoid misunderstandings during an already difficult time.

Gwen Price is a nurse who has worked with several in home hospice care. For additional information on how this can help your terminally-ill loved one, please read up about hospice services.

Life is Not a Coincidence – Part 5

Here is part five of our Wednesday series of informative articles created from my podcast interview with Sheryl Glick, the author of Life is Not a Coincidence. Sheryl tells about the numerous times and ways her loved ones have communicated with her. Here is another one of those instances. You may listen to our entire interview at http://dld.bz/bqFzj.

Yvonne: I got an email on March 8, that stated we were in a month of miracles in which everything was speeded up. Our manifestations were like a hundred thousand times faster.

Sheryl: That is so wonderful that you said that. I had a client last week who said to me, “Sheryl, I think I had a miracle.” A few weeks before she was in debt because she had spent $30,000 for in vitro. She had to have surgery because she had endometriosis.

Then she had a growth on her ovary and had to go to an oncologist to remove it so she wouldn’t lose the ovary. She was so disheartened that she was in debt trying to have a child. I said to her, “Do not worry. Do not think about the money. Pay whatever little bit you can because if you worry about it, it will become more challenging and you really won’t be able to rid yourself of the burden.”
She comes in later and tells me she got a call from her doctor. He had forgiven the debt and doesn’t want her to send any more payments. She also got a letter from the government stating she was receiving $8,000 because of all the medical expenses that she had. So she said, “I’m debt free!!”

That’s how miracles work! We do the right thing. We try to be consciousness good citizens and we ask for help from spirit and here comes a miracle! I didn’t know it was the week of miracles but I was so happy.

Yvonne: I had a similar situation this week. My husband and I have decided to go to Sedona, Arizona for vacation in September.

Sheryl: Oh how beautiful it is there!
Yvonne: We feel that we need to go there because Spirit has something for us there. We’ve got the time share accommodations arranged and I mentioned to my husband that we needed to have x number of dollars saved up so we can pay cash for this trip and not put anything on credit cards. So he put together a little budget and said you need to have this much and I need to have this much to cover everything including airfare and food. I said, “That’s not enough. I want to have spending money so I’m going to manifest at least $400 more. Do you know that within three hours after that conversation I got a text message that read: “I brought a check by and put it in your mailbox. I want you to get it before the mailman comes.” The amount was $440—more than what I said I wanted for spending money.
Sheryl: Did you know that 44 is the sign of the angels? It’s beautiful.
Yvonne: Yes I know!

Sheryl: I always say to people it’s not just about making intention for what you need or want. It’s about performing the behavior and the action towards that goal. So we can’t just wish and sit there and wait. We need to put our whole essence and our whole energy and our whole passion into whatever it is that we think is part of our destiny part of our life plan. We can’t do it meekly. We have to be a little bold.

Yvonne: You know I didn’t even ask I just said this is what I need and thank you for providing it. I’ve got several more months and have the money already saved up and nearly paid for my portion of the trip so I’m excited!
Sheryl: Have a wonderful time. It’s so beautiful out there.

Yvonne: Thanks!

What Are Visitations and What Do They Mean?

By Keith Ward

When someone loses a loved one, especially one that is very close, they may be so distraught that they cannot accept this death. The need to keep a connection to the person whom they have lost is so strong, they may experience visitations. Many times these people will wake in the middle of the night to see their loved one in the room with them. There are even reports of talking to the departed one.

Is it a Dream or is it Real?

Although many believe that the visitation during a dream is nothing more than the need to see the person again so badly that the mind manufactures the visit, there are some visitations that are not so easily explained. Visitations have been reported when the person was not sleeping. They may sense a presence around them and turn around to see their son, daughter or husband who has recently passed.

Visitations are not always seeing the individual. Some are feelings or a smell such as the scent of the perfume worn by the deceased. Others are arrangements of objects that were important to the person who has passed. There have been instances of collections that belonged to the deceased being re-arranged even though no one was near them.

What this means can be interpreted in many ways. The most popular belief is the person wants to let their loved ones know there is life after death. In addition, they may want to assure them that they are okay where they are now. Often people will make a sort of pact. They will promise each other whichever one passes first will use a certain sign to let the other one know they are still around. This visitation reassures the remaining person that they will not just cease to exist when they die.

Near-Death Visitations

Many times when someone is near death, they may see a loved one who has passed before them. Relatives have reported the ill person saying the name of a mother or husband who has been dead many years. They also have noted that the person will look happy and seem to see them in the room. Is this a figment of our imagination or does the person actually see their deceased relative? If you believe in an afterlife, you will most likely believe they have actually seen their relative.

Many movies have focused on this and some have been based on true-life happenings. The spirit of a deceased person trying to communicate with the living is one of the great mysteries that we want to understand. So why does the visitation happen? Many believe that the person who died may have left unfinished business. They may feel the need to visit their loved ones and reassure them that they are fine. There are also theories that the person never really leaves and their presence is felt constantly in the home in which they lived.

Consciousness of the Living World

This brings up the subject of knowing what is going on after you die. Does the person who is no longer of the physical world know what is happening here anyway? The soul is the core of this discussion. Since many believe in the existence of the soul apart from the physical body, the conclusion is that there must be knowledge of what is still happening on Earth. It cannot be impossible for them to know that their loved one miss them and are grieving. In some instances, this will be a reason for a visitation.

In other cases, when it comes to the visitation, it is most likely that the deceased wants to make contact with the living for a reason. It may be that the person left unfinished business. They may want to warn the person they left behind about something. If the deceased was the victim of a murder, they may want to let their loved ones know who was responsible.

Sometimes visitations are made in times of stress. This may mean that the departed person knows the person is going through life-altering transitions and wants to let them know they are not alone. The connection between the two may have been so strong that when one was upset, the other was upset as well. Therefore, when they visit to let it be known that they are still with them this is a sign that you are not handling everything by yourself.

Have you ever heard an instrument play by itself or found the same objects day after day? This is also considered a visitation. The spirits are said to be able to manipulate electronics more easily. Often this would seem to be a way of allowing the living to know that the spirit of someone is still around even though we may not know whom. There are psychics who believe this is the way some spirits visit the world of the living.

Religion and Visitations

It cannot go without saying that if you believe in the existence of God and Jesus that you must believe in life after death. This is the basis of the teachings of the Bible and the way a person is supposed to live their life. The visitation of angels is another basis of the belief that there is something more than life as we know it now.

Whether or not you believe in visitations is a personal belief. Those who have experienced them believe and they believe they know why they received the visit. The world is full of mysteries that we will never understand. When it comes to the meaning of visitations, many are easier to understand than others are.

Life is Not a Coincidence – Part 4

Here is part four of our Wednesday series of informative articles created from my podcast interview with Sheryl Glick, the author of Life is Not a Coincidence. Sheryl tells about the numerous times and ways her loved ones have communicated with her. Here is another one of those instances. You may listen to the entire interview at http://dld.bz/bqFzj.
Yvonne: We’ve talked about several ways spirits communicate with us. We’ve talked about the psychic smell. We’ve talked about pictures falling over when they really had no reason to. We’ve talked about sitting next to someone on the bus who had a shared name and likeness with the person that you knew. What are some other things we might recognize?

Sheryl: One day I was walking on the boardwalk by the ocean and a man walked by me who looked exactly like my Uncle High. It was so uncanny how much he looked like him. Then I walked a little further and a second man walked by me who also looked like him. I knew I had to call my aunt and uncle. My uncle was alive. When I was leaving the beach I went to my car and another man drove by me in his car and looked exactly like my uncle. I think we can call that a spiritual overlay. When someone in spirit can actually imprint on another person, some of their energy or their appearance or their personality so a medium can pick up it.

So I went home and immediately called my uncle, but he wasn’t there so I got to speak to my Aunt Lily. I told her the story and she said how happy she was that I told her that story because she felt it was her father getting a message through to her-that he was alright. She said to me, “Sheryl, you wouldn’t know this but my father looked exactly like Uncle High. Two weeks before he died I had a dream that he was going to pass but I didn’t say anything to anyone because I didn’t understand what it meant.” Then he did pass so it was obvious that my aunt has a propensity to receive information from spirit through a dream like I did with my grandfather before my father passed.

Yvonne: I had something like that this week. I was driving down the road talking to my mom and we mentioned my daughter-in-law. I turned the corner and I said out loud to Mom, “Oh, my god! That looks just like Amanda!” I did a double take because here we were just talking about someone and I see a girl who looks just like her! It wasn’t her vehicle so I knew it wasn’t her, but I was tempted to slow the car down and ask, “What are you doing here?” It’s wasn’t even close to her house and she would have no reason to be in the area. That must have been one of those imprints you’re talking about.

Sheryl: Right! It must have been someone in spirit who wanted you to connect with her or think of her. Sometimes in just thinking of someone we are sending out such a loving energy that it can help them. There is no time to speak, so our thoughts and intentions for creating and manifesting something wonderful can happen just that easily. Someone who needs help and those in spirit know who need it. They get the message to us anyway they can in a loving way.

What Happens to Our Loved Ones When They Die a Violent Death?

By Melissa Van Rossum

With all the news lately about violent attacks, including Ann Pressly, the news anchor from Little Rock, Arkansas who was beaten to death and the members of Jennifer Hudson's family who was killed, people are naturally wondering what happens to a loved one when they die a violent death.

I've met several ghosts who died from violent attacks. One of the most memorable people I met was Tim McClean, the man who was beheaded on a Greyhound bus in Canada.

I don't normally read graphic news pieces, but his story popped up on an internet page I was visiting and I ended up reading a couple of paragraphs of it. If you're familiar with this story you know why I stopped reading it after only a couple of paragraphs.

The remarkable thing was that I was in my basement office when I read the story. I shut down my computer, turned out the lights and began to climb the stairs. By the time I reached the top of the second flight, there was Tim, with his iPod earphones still in his ears, standing outside my bedroom doorway. I hadn't yet seen a photo of him, but I knew it was him since I had already connected with his energy from reading the story.

He was still stunned from all the events of his bodily death and seemed genuinely shy. He stood leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets. Although he wasn't in any pain, he did seem overwhelmed and ready to go home. I couldn't blame him.

He hadn't gone home earlier out of shock and disbelief of how his body had died. I think for a while, he didn't quite realize he was dead.

But now he did and he wanted to go home.

I gladly helped him on his way and he went home easily to the Other Side.

The important thing to remember when a loved one dies from a violent attack, is that once they leave their body, they're no longer in any pain.

Too often as the ones who stay behind, we stay stuck in the moment of their death or the time they suffered just before their death. They, however, move beyond this moment very quickly.

I met a gentleman several months ago who had committed suicide by shooting himself.

He was the brother of a friend and she was distraught over what he had done. Within minutes of my learning about what had happened, he quickly came to me. His funeral had not yet happened and he was asking me to send him home - which I refused to do.

He was not in any physical pain, but he knew the moment he killed himself that he had done the wrong thing. He was scared and ravaged with guilt and he was afraid of the anger and the judgment of those he had left behind.

He wanted to go home early to escape facing what he thought would be an angry mob. But he couldn't have been more wrong.

He stood in the corner almost shaking, he was so overwhelmed with fear.

"You have to go be with your family right now....I'm not going to help you until after your funeral. You need to go be with your family and do what you can to comfort them, let them know you're sorry, that you're still alive. You need to take responsibility for the pain you've caused them," I told him.

"They're mad at me," he said, "they're furious with me. I don't want to be around them. I'm just a disappointment to them."

"Well, you've done the worst you could have possibly done. They're going to be mad at you for a while. You need to go face the music," I said to him.

"You need to trust me on this, this is the only way you're going to get through this," I said unapologetically.

He finally left and timidly went to his family.

I checked in on him now and then over the week and he began to see how he had had other choices in life that he wasn't aware of at the time. And, just as importantly, he began to feel the love they had for him. They were mad at him, that's true. But they dearly loved him.

While he lived in his body he regularly felt that he was to blame for so much of others' suffering, now he could see that really wasn't the case.

He had begun to learn some very valuable insights even before he crossed over to go Home.

Which, by the way, he did cross over on his own just after his funeral. I don't think he would have been able to do that if he hadn't begun to see beyond the blame and the self-judgment.

Those who leave their bodies violently or tragically, move beyond those terrible last moments very quickly, and we need to as well. The suffering for them ended as soon as they left their bodies and their emotional healing began at the same time.

Life is Not a Coincidence – Part 3

Here is part three of our Wednesday series of informative articles created from my podcast interview with Sheryl Glick, the author of Life is Not a Coincidence. Sheryl tells about the numerous times and ways her loved ones have communicated with her. Here is another one of those instances. You may listen to the entire interview at http://dld.bz/bqFzj.

Sheryl: There really are no coincidences. Coincidences are messages from higher spiritual beings or loved ones. Those messages come to help us—to tell us more about who we are and to guide us through the physical world, which is a very challenging environment. A physical life is not easy for many people. It’s a beautiful life and we can have much joy and health but we can also have many challenges. In learning more about who we are as energy beings we are able to transcend and transform a lot of the physical problems of the physical world.

Yvonne: Give us a few examples of that. What is something that could help us?

Sheryl: Okay I’ll give you an example of how someone who didn’t understand they were getting a message from spirit. It was no coincidence that I met this person on a train station. She looked like my cousin, Susan, so I started to talk to her. She said her name was Suzanne, so that was already no coincidence. She said she had been married for about a year and somehow I sensed that her mother had passed. She said something to the fact that her mother was not there.

I said, “But your mother was there at the wedding and she knows your husband.” Then she says to me, “It’s funny you say that but I have a picture of the two of us and no matter where I place it, it falls down. If I put it far back on the shelf or if I put it on another table, it’s not anywhere that it could fall off, yet I find it on the floor.”

“That’s her way of telling you that she’s happy that you’re married and have a wonderful husband. She wants you to know that she was there with you and she’s not really gone. She’s around learning from you, experiencing things, sharing love. It’s just that she’s in a different place of learning. She has experiences that she has to continue to learn on her own.”

The girl started to cry because she had felt something but not had validation and wasn’t really quite sure what was going on. My meeting her that day was probably part of her mother’s energy to urge me to be there at the right moment in time to help her daughter. They work that way from spirit. They are all connected and our loved ones meet. As you and I are sitting here now speaking perhaps some of our loved ones up there are watching and observing and sharing with us this moment. Life doesn’t end at death; it’s endless—we are endless as eternal beings, growing and evolving whether we’re here on Earth or in dimensions beyond here.

Baby Boomers and Senior Care: How Is It Affecting You and Your Family?

By Claudette Paage

Are you a baby boomer caring for an aging parent or loved one? If you answered yes, you're not alone. Surveys suggest that today's baby boomers-those born between 1946 and 1965-will likely spend time caring for an aging parent or loved one.

If you fall into this category, you are dedicating enormous time, energy and resources-many times, financial assistance-to make sure your aging loved ones are safe, secure, comfortable and maintaining the best possible quality of life. But, your own health and well-being may be in jeopardy-there are only so many hours in the day!

To make matters more difficult, caregivers often lose out on moneymaking opportunities. They receive fewer promotions and wage increases along with less education as part of dropping out of the workplace or working fewer hours to care for a parent. This could result in a substantial loss of savings for their own retirement.

Most aging parents don't want to feel as if they're a burden on their children. But while caregivers deserve respect for their compassion and willingness to help provide elder care, how do they handle careers, children and care giving without completely wearing themselves out? Here are some tips on coping:

Look for community service organizations that offer help. A good place to start your search is at http://www.eldercare.gov. This government website is a public service of the U.S. Administration on Aging. Simply enter your zip code or city, choose a topic, and a list of resources pops up.

Give yourself a break by hiring outside services. If you prefer to provide most of the care for your parent, rely on outside services to handle some of the tasks. By spreading out the work a bit, you'll give yourself a much-needed break so you stay healthy and can continue helping your parent. Consider hiring services for house cleaning, yard work, laundry, grocery shopping, running errands and organizing.

Ask for help from family members. Don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. Ask a family member to come over and visit, read a book, teach your parent how to use a computer, help set up a cell phone, or take a walk around the block. Be specific about what you need. Encourage people who want to help, but can't, to provide a gift of services.

Consult with an elder care or senior care consultant. These consultants have seen the situation many times over while it might be a first time event for you. They help you weed through the information and learn how to better handle long-term care planning, often saving you costly elder care attorney fees down the road. When you choose an elder care or senior care consultant, look for someone who has the financial and organizational skills necessary to handle your parent's worries, wishes and priorities. They should offer a customized solution while building a strong relationship with other family members, accountants, attorneys, financial planners and investment advisors.
