What Happens to Our Loved Ones When They Die a Violent Death?
By Melissa Van Rossum
With all the news lately about violent attacks, including Ann Pressly, the news anchor from Little Rock, Arkansas who was beaten to death and the members of Jennifer Hudson's family who was killed, people are naturally wondering what happens to a loved one when they die a violent death.
I've met several ghosts who died from violent attacks. One of the most memorable people I met was Tim McClean, the man who was beheaded on a Greyhound bus in Canada.
I don't normally read graphic news pieces, but his story popped up on an internet page I was visiting and I ended up reading a couple of paragraphs of it. If you're familiar with this story you know why I stopped reading it after only a couple of paragraphs.
The remarkable thing was that I was in my basement office when I read the story. I shut down my computer, turned out the lights and began to climb the stairs. By the time I reached the top of the second flight, there was Tim, with his iPod earphones still in his ears, standing outside my bedroom doorway. I hadn't yet seen a photo of him, but I knew it was him since I had already connected with his energy from reading the story.
He was still stunned from all the events of his bodily death and seemed genuinely shy. He stood leaning against the wall with his hands in his pockets. Although he wasn't in any pain, he did seem overwhelmed and ready to go home. I couldn't blame him.
He hadn't gone home earlier out of shock and disbelief of how his body had died. I think for a while, he didn't quite realize he was dead.
But now he did and he wanted to go home.
I gladly helped him on his way and he went home easily to the Other Side.
The important thing to remember when a loved one dies from a violent attack, is that once they leave their body, they're no longer in any pain.
Too often as the ones who stay behind, we stay stuck in the moment of their death or the time they suffered just before their death. They, however, move beyond this moment very quickly.
I met a gentleman several months ago who had committed suicide by shooting himself.
He was the brother of a friend and she was distraught over what he had done. Within minutes of my learning about what had happened, he quickly came to me. His funeral had not yet happened and he was asking me to send him home - which I refused to do.
He was not in any physical pain, but he knew the moment he killed himself that he had done the wrong thing. He was scared and ravaged with guilt and he was afraid of the anger and the judgment of those he had left behind.
He wanted to go home early to escape facing what he thought would be an angry mob. But he couldn't have been more wrong.
He stood in the corner almost shaking, he was so overwhelmed with fear.
"You have to go be with your family right now....I'm not going to help you until after your funeral. You need to go be with your family and do what you can to comfort them, let them know you're sorry, that you're still alive. You need to take responsibility for the pain you've caused them," I told him.
"They're mad at me," he said, "they're furious with me. I don't want to be around them. I'm just a disappointment to them."
"Well, you've done the worst you could have possibly done. They're going to be mad at you for a while. You need to go face the music," I said to him.
"You need to trust me on this, this is the only way you're going to get through this," I said unapologetically.
He finally left and timidly went to his family.
I checked in on him now and then over the week and he began to see how he had had other choices in life that he wasn't aware of at the time. And, just as importantly, he began to feel the love they had for him. They were mad at him, that's true. But they dearly loved him.
While he lived in his body he regularly felt that he was to blame for so much of others' suffering, now he could see that really wasn't the case.
He had begun to learn some very valuable insights even before he crossed over to go Home.
Which, by the way, he did cross over on his own just after his funeral. I don't think he would have been able to do that if he hadn't begun to see beyond the blame and the self-judgment.
Those who leave their bodies violently or tragically, move beyond those terrible last moments very quickly, and we need to as well. The suffering for them ended as soon as they left their bodies and their emotional healing began at the same time.

End-of-Life Decision Making For Cancer Patients
By Pauline Go
People who are in the last stages of cancer should pay some attention to end-of-life decisions. The most important is advance directive, also known as living will, for medical treatment. This is nothing but a document written by the terminally ill person while he or she is still capable of making decisions. The advance directive basically states that the patient does not want artificial means of surviving should he or she become mentally incompetent. Artificial life saving measures include CPR, respirators or anything else the person can think of.
The reason why advance directive only applies to a person who in mentally incapable of making decisions is because prior to that a doctor can ask the person what his or her preferences are about the treatment. However, once the person becomes mentally incompetent, he cannot be asked to state to state his or her preference.
However, advance directive is not only about dying with dignity. There are some patients who might want to live as long as possible using CPR or artificial breathing machines. If this is mentioned in your living will, the doctors and your family would have to respect it. In fact, the doctor would have to do everything to save your life or prolong it.
Those who find writing advance directive morbid, do not have to do it. Instead they can appoint a health care agent. This is someone who makes all the healthcare decisions on your behalf when you are incapable of making them. However, you would have to tell the agent what your wishes are while you are still able to think and comprehend coherently.

Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide Raise Strong Emotions
By Rosemary Redfern
Euthanasia and assisted suicide are emotive subjects. Our fears about death and dying and the laws, both religious and state, which control the legality of death, are powerful influences on all of us.
Staying alive is one of the strongest drives any animal, humans included, has. At the same time, those who are carnivorous in their diet expect animals to die to feed them. This is part of the food chain and is echoed by the animals who hunt for food as opposed to non carnivorous animals.
Society does not expect anyone to kill another person; yet we execute people we deem to have committed certain crimes. We send our children to fight wars for our countries, knowing they can be killed or maimed. These concepts are accepted are normal. Man is an aggressive creature and very muddled in how it thinks.
The danger for most of us with euthanasia and assisted suicide is that someone will die because they are rich, in the way, getting old and being a nuisance or some other idea. Yet when our pets become distressed with disease and old age, after consulting a vet, we give them the mercy of releasing them with a quiet injection and call it putting the animal to sleep. The grief is no less but we feel it is a kind thing to do.
When humans suffer from dreadful diseases like the end of some cancers, motor neuron disease and diseases which take away the independence and dignity of the individual, those who have nothing to do with the person dictate they should live and suffer. They seem to be devoid of imagination of what it is like to suffer unbearable pain or suffocate slowly because the body cannot get air.
Suicide is frowned upon as a cowardly act. For someone who is desperately disfigured it is seen as the only answer. The only person who can know what it is like, is the individual who is suffering. Their family and friends can have some idea because they see the results every day but they cannot know. When you love someone you do not want them to struggle with survival which is traumatic.
Living wills have been designed so that in the event of an unexpected disaster, the wishes of the person are known. Who knows what is happening inside the head of someone who has been in a coma for years. Who knows what quality of life they have. Why is it so terrible to allow someone to die in peace.
In some countries these elements have been considered and thought through. There are legal controls and nothing is done without the criteria being covered. A person cannot just be disposed of as a whim. Surely this is a humane way to treat people who have gone as far as they can. For the religious, dying means getting the reward they have worked for during their lifetime, a positive thing surely.
There is a strong case for euthanasia and assisted suicide.

End of Life Plan - Not Just For the Elderly
by Laura Bramble
Most people live with a fear of being debilitated and unable to make end of life decisions, whether by accident, disease or aging. Mental autonomy is a vital part of our identities and it is hard to imagine life without it. Yet many face that very situation every day. Having a clearly defined, written plan that close friends and family understand goes a long way in relieving some of that fear.
Like wills, people approach end of life plans with hesitation. These plans are seen as morbid or as bringing bad things into being. Younger people feel that there is plenty of time; only "old people" need to plan ahead and declare their wishes. However, many who need end of life plans are not those who are dying a slow and dignified death with plenty of time to set things in order. Accidents and sudden illnesses create situations that render the victim incapacitated and unable to make decisions for himself, the very situation that requires this kind of plan. The suddenness of the condition also leaves family members to deal with a large number of issues and emotions at once, besides the burden of having to make decisions for a loved one. Having a plan in place keeps loved ones from having to think about those issues while they are in the midst of coping with their emotions and prevents them from ever wondering if they did the right thing and respected your unknown wishes.
A basic end of life plan deals with a few issues: life support and extraordinary medical measures, organ donation and funeral arrangements, hospice care and financial issues. Whether a patient wants doctors to keep them on life support for an extended period or resort to complicated or risky procedures on a faint hope of success needs to be spelled out, since making that decision means condemning a loved one to death. This is a very pressure filled situation for a grieving loved one. For those that have definite feelings about how they wish their body to be handled after death, especially those with strong religious convictions, putting directions in writing removes any guesswork and ensures that their final wishes will be met. Some people are comfortable with the idea of hospice care, while others would rather die at home, surrounded by familiar people and things, which an end of life plan makes clear. An end of life plan also creates arrangements for the support of spouses and children, temporary custody and guardianship, and funding for medical and funeral expenses.
It takes a team to develop a solid end of life plan. Especially if you are ill or elderly, speaking with your doctor about what to expect and getting answers to questions can help you settle the medical issues surrounding long-term care and life support. An attorney can give legal advice on the best and smoothest way to handle any transfers of property or authority. A financial advisor who specializes in estate and succession planning can advise you on the most effective way to structure your finances to guarantee that funds are in place to cover expenses while minimizing the tax burden on loved ones.

What Happens When You "Die"?
by Bonnie Jean Hamilton
Death is merely a doorway to a new state of awareness; your spirit continues to live after the physical manifestation is no more. Your spirit or energy body is always alive, creating, moving about, taking action, living and learning. This energy body is alive on many levels, states of awareness, or dimensions. Right now, you are a multidimensional being whose energy spans across and throughout many worlds. When the physical body gives out, you continue to exist in other bodies on other planes.
Your energy body conforms to whatever vibrational level it is in at the time. When your physical body dies, your energy body leaves it and moves to the closest space inhabitable. It's like when any chemical compound is released from its typical state-it reforms or changes composition, but the energy is still manifest in some way. What changes is the vibrational rate and in what way the form is manifest.
The same thing goes for "time"-it is a matter of moving from moment to moment as vibrational levels are constantly changing and evolving. Time travel is possible just by finding the exact vibrational level of the moment you are looking for and adjusting to it (but that is another story).
Humming, vibrating, dematerializing / rematerializing.
When the physical body dies, the energy body does not die; consciousness moves to a new attention. And visiting the physical plane afterwards is similar to a dream experience, becoming more vivid depending on focus, alertness (or consciousness) and concentration. The physical manifestation is DUE to attention from the energy body-what makes you think the demise of the physical body would also kill the energy body? It works the other way around-your physical world is created by the underlying energetic patterns making up your world. Physicality is just the expression of energy taking place.
So, don't think that when someone's physical form deteriorates and dies that they are dead; your friends and family are always part of you and they are existing alongside you, they just don't have a physical form at the moment! Their energy is very much alive and they continue to live and learn just like you do!
Many Blessings, Bonnie Jean Hamilton

Cremation Alternatives - Pre-Need Planning and End of Life Decisions
by Melody Jamali
What do you want done with your remains when you pass away? There are many decisions to be made before you die and pre-planning for body disposal is an important decision among them. There are many cremation alternatives to chose from if you decide that either that or burial are not right for you, but it is important to make your wishes known while you're still alive. So, what types of funeral and cremation alternatives are there? In this day and age, there are quite a few alternatives to having your body cremated or the traditional burial in a casket.
Whole Body Donation
One of the ways that science has advanced over the years is because of donors. Not only monetary donations, but also whole body donations. If you are interested in doing something for the sciences after you're gone, you can make arrangements to have your body donated to science for research. Almost all bodies are accepted and most diseases are acceptable for research. When you donate your body to science, all that is required upon your death is that a call be placed to the company you have donated your body to. If you are worried about costs to your family, you needn't, because whole body donation is typically 100% free for the donor and all that your family will be responsible for is the memorial service.
Cryopreservation
If you want your body perfectly preserved in the chance that someday the technology to cure a disease or extend life will exist, then cryopreservation is the cremation alternative for you. The body, tissues and organs are preserved at sub-zero temperatures and are stored at facilities in chambers that maintain the freezing temperatures, preventing cell death. Though many believe that there will come a day when their bodies can be revived, there is not irrefutable proof on the matter. Cryopreservation is also very expensive since not only must the preservation take place, but proper storage must be provided at all times.
Resomation
This environmentally friendly alternative to cremation or burial is a process involving water and alkali that breaks the body down over the course of two to three hours (virtually the same length of time as it takes to cremate a body) leaving behind a sterile liquid and bone ashes. The liquid is returned to nature, leaving only the ashes, which can be preserved in a cremation urn in exactly the same manner as cremains.
How is resomation a more eco-friendly cremation alternative to something that's already fairly green? Studies have shown that funerals that replace traditional cremation with the resomation process reduce the greenhouse gases emission by about 35%. If more people selected this procedure over cremation, the carbon footprint of the funeral industry could be drastically reduced. Plus, resomation currently costs around $600, which is significantly cheaper than cremation in the United States.
Corpse Composting
This procedure is not as simple as you might initially think. Bodies are not simply buried without a casket when corpse composting is used. It's actually a slightly complex technique in which the body is frozen using liquid nitrogen, then placed in a coffin, which is also frozen. Then the brittle frozen body and coffin are subjected to light vibrations. The vibrations shatter both and the result is a fine, organic powder. The powder then has any water, mercury and other metals removed. After all this, the result is a sterile powder that can be buried in the upper mulching layers of the soil. Full composting usually happens within 6-12 months after burial. You can use the composted remains as mulch for planting trees or even a memorial garden.

Key Things To Know When Communicating With Spirits
By Crystal Milligan
Connecting with the spirit world is not difficult, it simply involves the desire to do so and the requisite time necessary to facilitate the interaction. Throughout history people and cultures have engaged the spiritual realm in a variety of ways. The following is a list of things you should do to facilitate your contact with the spirit world:
Give permission for the spirits to work with you, specifically your guides and angels
Helpful spirits will work with you proactively when you give them the permission to do so. This can be done by speaking out loud, in prayer style, your intent to work with them and asking them specifically to work with you. If you have a particular subject you would like them to address, state it as such and ask for their assistance.
It is important to make sure to ask for only those spirits to work with you who are there for your highest purpose and utmost good. You do not want lower-energy, earthbound spirits hanging around, giving you messages and instruction. These lower energies typically know little more than you do, if as much, and often are mischievous and out to play with or harass you. Instead be sure to ask for higher, enlightened guides and hosts; those operating within the Light and for the purpose of the Light, and then give them permission to work with you in whatever form will be best received by you.
Once you have stated this (and you can do so more than once) sit back and observe your surroundings for the next few days or weeks. Note any dreams, thoughts, serendipitous events, information and out-of-ordinary circumstances you encounter. Keep a journal to log these things and review it often for the answers you seek.
Meditation
One of the most helpful ways to facilitate spirit communication is via meditation. Meditation is truly the cornerstone of any viable spiritual practice. Meditation allows us to calm our minds and listen. When we are in a position to listen we not only hear our own thoughts and messages but the messages sent from our spirit friends and guides.
It is best to make sure you are in complete silence when meditating for the purpose of spirit communication. This means no ambient noise if possible as well as no meditative music. Just pure silence. Be alone in your mind with your thoughts and maintain a state of hopeful readiness. If you have given the spirits permission to come they will show up, and many times they show up while you are in the act of meditating. If they do not show up during your meditations they will show up in other ways, and your meditations will lay the groundwork for their appearance.
Channeling
Channeling is an effective way to make contact with the spirit world. Channeling involves making oneself available to higher spirits and energies to be used as a conduit or channel for their pertinent messages to come forth. Channeling can be done via trance (as with Edgar Cayce) or while conscious (as with Jane Roberts). While in trance a person's awareness is completely displaced; with conscious channeling the practitioner is aware of the messages and information coming through.
A person can either speak out the information or alternatively write it down, such as in automatic writing. Other things besides spiritual messages can be channeled as well, such as musical compositions, poetry and even scientific formulae. In order for the practitioner to channel he or she must first set the stage accordingly, to include psychic protection, grounding and relaxation. Once these things are done the practitioner must give permission for the higher spirits to come and then wait for messages or inspiration.
The Divinatory Arts
Divination means to foresee or to be inspired by God. God in this context refers to the Source of all things, the All That Is, the Universe, etc.
Some divinatory arts include tarot card reading, dowsing, clairvoyance, precognition, tea leaf reading and scrying. While working with these divinatory abilities or instruments, spirits are allowed to come forth to relay messages or give information via sense, signals, images, words and information.
There are many types of divination, so the aspiring communicator should conduct appropriate research in order to determine which art suits him or her the best. Some methods will feel right while others may feel foreign.
***
The important thing to remember is that Spirit will always find a way to communicate with us if we are willing and receptive. Therefore set your intention to work with Spirit and specify what it is you would like to learn. From there safely explore and document all that is given... and enjoy!

How to Communicate with Your Spirit Guides
Everyone has several spirit guides and protectors who work in the unseen realms. These may be deceased relatives, angels, archangels, ascended masters, goddesses/gods, the Holy Spirit, or some soul you have partnered with in past lives in order to assist one another with soul development.
Our guides may change throughout our lifetimes. As our souls grow from lessons learned, we may "unlock a new level" (like we do in video games) of ascension and no longer need the guides we were working with. We may be introduced to spirit helpers who are more advanced (have purer energy) on that plane.
Many people think it is difficult to get in touch with their guides, but the truth is our guides WANT to communicate with us. The reason some people don't hear from their guides is because they don't take time to get still and listen. They are consumed with busy work schedules that zap their time and energy; their spiritual practice is either non-existent or not a priority. Another reason is because our guides do not infringe upon our free will (as dark entities do); they wait to be called upon. So, why not call upon them today? There's probably something you are dealing with that an advanced soul, who sees more of the big picture, could help you with. Why struggle when help is available?
It's not necessary to know the names of your spirit guides in order to work with them. In fact, you may have so many helpers working behind the scenes on your behalf that you couldn't possibly remember all their names and roles—that is unless you feel led to do that kind of research. In those cases, I suggest you do the exercise below or use oracle cards such as those created by Doreen Virtue. She has a deck for angels
, archangels
, ascended masters
, goddesses
, etc. I have about eight decks that I use whenever I need precise guidance. The instructions for use are in each deck.
How to find out who are your guides:
1. Light a candle and set your intention to hear from Spirit
2. Breathe deeply for a few minutes to clear your mind
3. Call in your spirit guides
4. Ask for the names of your guides (optional)
5. Write down what you hear/see/sense
6. Thank your guides for their message(s) to you.
I trust that you will begin to work with your guides and find your life goes much smoother as you listen to and follow your higher inner guidance.

Loving Ways To Deal With Death and Dying
By Helene Rothschild
Death is a natural occurrence, a passageway. When we can accept human death as another cycle of life, we can enjoy our daily lives more because we won't be in fear. Then we can also gracefully release others who are dying.
I often hear people say that they lost their mother, father, or another person in their lives. I can feel their pain when they express the transition in that way. I have compassion for their feelings. To assist them to feel better, I suggest that they just state what happened. For example, "My mother passed away last month." I also encourage them to close their eyes and speak to them. They are often pleased and comforted when they receive an intuitive response.
People who have had near-death experiences report seeing a tunnel and then a white light. There is always an angel or other being from the light waiting to take them back to the light. They feel nothing but unconditional love and their spirit (not their human bodies which is the only thing that dies) soars back home to the light. After a time of healing, they may become spirit guides or angels for those who are living.
Even though it may not look like that, all individuals have free will to choose when to leave the planet. No matter how they decide to pass on, it is helpful to accept their choice. The following suggestions can assist you to deal with death and dying in a loving way. Put a check next to what you want to say or do.
A. To help those who are dying, I can tell them in a loving way that:
1. They are complete here and it is time to go home.
2. They are worthy to return to the light.
3. It is helpful to forgive others and themselves for all that they felt was wrong, so that they can finish their unfinished business and go in peace.
4. There is nothing to be afraid of because they will be accompanied by an angelic being.
5. They can relax and just let themselves fall into a deep sleep and transcend back into the light.
6. They will be able to communicate telepathically with those they love.
7. If they choose, they can be reborn and live another life cycle on earth.
B. To help me deal with a loved ones death, I am:
1. Forgiving them and myself for anything that I felt was wrong.
2. Knowing that they will be totally taken care of.
3. Accepting that I am whole and complete by myself.
4. Understanding that I am not responsible for their passing.
C. To help me cope after a loved one transitions, I am:
1. Allowing myself to feel all my emotions and expressing them in healthy ways.
2. Realizing that I am likely to have feelings of denial, anger, fear, and sadness.
3. Giving myself time to grieve which is a necessary and important part of my healing process.
4a. Asking myself, "What do I think that I still need from ___ (deceased name) that I can't give to myself?" (Examples: security, love, appreciation)
4b.Giving what I need to myself and/or allowing others to be there for me.
5. Thinking of my loved one as being happy and doing well.
6. Speaking to my loved one out loud or in my mind anytime I have something to say.
7. Reading a book about near-death experiences.
8. Attending a death and dying support group.
9. Reaching out to people I feel close to for support.
10. Seeking a professional counselor to help me cope with my loss.
Congratulate yourself for dealing with death and dying in a loving, healthy way.

Helping Souls Cross Over
A new friend of mine recently told me that she had started letting spirits communicate with her. For a long time, she had let the "whisperings" pass by—dismissing them as her imagination. Last week, she decided to follow up on the things that they were telling her. Doing some Internet research on the names, events, and places they were giving her, she was able to confirm that these souls were truly identifying themselves with facts that could be proven historically. She has a desire to help them cross over. Since she is a newbie at doing this, I gave her some pointers that I'd like to share with you as well.
If you want to work directly with the souls to cross them over, I hope you will do so by calling in your spiritual guidance team (ascended masters, angels, etc.) to "screen your calls" so to speak. I was so bombarded by ghosts at one point that I decided to stop working with these lost souls. I didn't want to close down my ability to hear and see in the spirit realm, but I needed a break from all the intrusions. I wasn't bothered by them for a while. That is until I consciously agreed to make my shift into using my business endeavors to accomplish my spiritual mission, which includes communicating with those who have passed.
I was hesitant about opening myself up to this sort of thing again, so I put some strong boundaries in place about what type of souls I would consciously work with. As part of setting boundaries with entities (as I mentioned in my book for empathic and energy-sensitive people, Whose Stuff Is This?
) I work with my guidance team, which includes Archangels Michael and Chamuel and ascended Masters Jesus Christ and Quan Yin. While I am energetically aware when there is an entity in my vicinity, the only ones who get to interact with me are the ones who actually have a pertinent message to deliver. Otherwise, my guides work directly with the lost souls who come to me for help. My guides help them cross over without my conscious participation.

Does Meditation Bring in Entities?
Do you feel the presence of your guides or other entities near you when you meditate?
I used to have a male spirit (he called himself Jonathan) who bugged me many times when I tried to meditate. He was acting as a guide and wanted to give me advice, but he didn't always have my best interest in mind. I sent him away by calling on my higher-vibrating guides and affirming that only those who had a purer more loving vibration than I did would be allowed near me. None could influence me who had not successfully passed more ascension initiations than I have.

Spirit Guides - How to Connect and Communicate With Them
By Alison Yates
What are Spirit Guides?
Many people believe that everyone has a Spirit Guide (or Guides) - entities that come from the Spirit world, who you can contact and communicate with, and who are ready and willing to help and assist you as you walk the Earth.
They are believed to be loved ones who have passed, ancient ancestral spirits, or even spirits from the Angelic Realm, and are assigned at birth to protect and support us.
Your Spirit Guides have learned many lessons and may well have also crossed your path on Earth in past lives. They know you very well, your strengths and weaknesses, and your abilities and your hopes and fears - and they know your destiny.
Your Spirit Guides are always willing to help and support you, but will not interfere in your life without a specific invitation.
Connecting with your Spirit Guides
Simple meditation is recognised as the best way to contact your personal Spirit Guides. Meditation is simply the process of calming your thoughts, slowing down, and focusing on a particular outcome or particular thing.
Spending fifteen minutes a day stilling your mind will be beneficial not only for contacting your personal Spirit Guides, but it will help you relax and enable you to reach some inner peace and calm that most of us have forgotten.
Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Try to make it a special place and a special time in your day. To create a pleasing ambience, pull the shades or dim the lights, play some soft music, light candles and incense sticks.
To help increase awareness of your personal Spirit Guides and shift attention away from the Earthly Plane, we will create a special place in your mind where you can meet them.
Relax in a comfortable chair, close your eyes and take some deep breaths. Every time you exhale, feel the stresses and worries of the day leave your body with every breath. Notice the sinking feeling when you breath out, and use this as a vehicle to allow you to let go and relax even more.
Imagine now a woodland path, bathed in mottled sunlight that filters through the leafy branches above. The air is warm and a soft breeze wafts the fresh smell of scented flowers over you. This can be a place in your imagination, or a real place you have visited.
Walk now along the well-worn path and come to a clearing in the woods. The clearing is bathed in a strong light, like a sunbeam. Enter the light.
This will be your sacred space and when you come here you will feel protected, safe and comfortable. This is a special place where the spiritual world meets the physical world - a place you have created with the power of your imagination.
Notice that the light you stand in is made up of the rainbow spectrum, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet.
For each colour in turn, look at it directly as it falls at your feet. Sense it. Tap into its meaning. Remember what you see, what you hear, what you feel, what you smell. Look at the colour very carefully.
Do this for each colour and then move your focus to the final colour, Violet.
Now see a distant figure walking towards you. They will ask if they can enter the light to be with you. Here will be your personal Spirit Guide.
You can now ask questions. But don't be disappointed if you receive no answers. Answers may come to you later, and often when you are not expecting them.
Rather than hearing something, you might get a feeling or a sensation of something. This will be the beginning for you. They may present you with a gift, or may speak to you by answering a question you have posed, or just some words of comfort or inspiration. If this is the first time of meeting, they may tell you their name. You may recognise this name, or not.
Practice connecting to your Spirit Guides at least once per day. Soon it will become easier for you, and like second nature.
When you are ready to leave, thank your Spirit Guide. Open your eyes and spend a few moments relaxed, and get acclimatised once more to the Earthly realm.

Speaking with A Ghost in My House
A week or so ago, things began disappearing and then reappearing in my house. I would go to a location where I knew something should be and the item would not be there. I would search thoroughly before finally giving up. A few moments later, I would go back to the location and it would be there in plain site; or else I'd ask my husband if he had seen the item and he would walk to the exact place I had looked and pick up, giving me a puzzled look as to why I couldn't see it. This happened about five times and I was pretty certain there was a ghost in our house. It felt like the spirit of a child--young, innocent, curious, and playful.
Next, two framed photographs that had stood in place for years began to fall over of their own accord. This one was insistent upon getting my attention, but I really didn't want to deal with a ghost. The next day a client of mine called and said he sensed his deceased uncle was trying to get in touch with him but he was having trouble connecting and hearing. He asked if I would listen for a message. So, THAT'S who the ghost was! It made sense. The uncle was a light-hearted fellow who died young.
I called upon my guides to retrieve the message and bring it to me in a format that I could decipher. Not only was the uncle present in this listening session, his brother (my client's dad) also came through. My client was relieved and comforted by what these men had to say to him.
What a privilege it is to be able to share information from deceased loved ones. I remember when I used to pray several times a day (for many years) for all nine gifts of the Holy Spirit to manifest through me. Believe me, the gift of discerning of spirits has not ceased!!

How to Detect the Presence of Ghosts and Other Spirits
By Nathaniel Webb
Haunting happens - it's more popular than many people would like to think. One of the practical aspects of every book that discusses ghosts and other paranormal activities, is a way to test if your house is haunted. In other words - how to detect the presence of ghosts and spirits? There are many ways to do so, that I'm going to describe right now.
Cold Spots
One of the most popular phenomenons regarding haunting and ghosts is called "cold spots". As the name states, those are the spots of cold air that can be sensed out of nowhere. Imagine that you're walking through warm corridor, and suddenly you can sense cold space. You're making few steps forward, and it's warm again. You're going back, and cold spot is still there. It is believed for cold spots to be places where ghosts and spirits draw psychic energies to sustain their own "life" energies. Just be careful not to consider air-conditioner for paranormal activity, please.
Sensing the Presence
Another way to detect the presence of ghosts would be to literally sense a presence of someone or something, when physically there's no one around - no people, no animals. Like you stand in the kitchen, and out of no where you can sense there's someone else in the room - you're looking around, but there is nothing but dinner on the table.
Mood changes
Ghosts and spirits, depending on their nature, can change mood in single room, or whole room. Imagine that you're watching good comedy in TV and suddenly you want to cry - it might suggest there's some sad spirit in the room. Spirits and ghosts can also create happy mood, or negative or even aggressive emotions.
Objects moving
Some intelligent spirit (meaning conscious ghosts) can move objects with invisible means. Different items might disappear and then appear in completely other place, or ghosts might also move things while you watch them (it's quite an interesting view, I have to admit).
Those are active ways of detection. You can also detect ghosts with passive means, this is - by assuming that things like weird shadows, or astral lights might suggest a presence in the building. Sometimes also nightmares, or obsessive thoughts, and finally weird behaviours of animals might suggest some paranormal activity in your house.
As you can see, there are quite a few methods of detecting the presence of ghosts and spirits. Keep them in mind, but remember to remain skeptical - not every air-conditioner is ghost.

Carl David Speaks About His Brother's Suicide
Our podcast guest, Carl David, is the third descendant of a four-generation art dealer family specializing in American and European seventeenth, eighteenth, nineteenth- and twentieth-century paintings, watercolors, sculptures and drawings.
In part one of this 3-part interview, Carl talks about his book, Bader Field
, and his father, Sam David, as they logged hundreds of flight hours reveling in their shared love for flying twin-engine airplanes. Carl also speaks about the suicide of his teenage brother, Bruce, and the impact that the self-inflicted death of a loved one has on an entire family. No one saw it coming. Back then, people didn't talk about suicide and there wasn't much help because getting psychological help had a stigma attached to it.
The family was just getting over Bruce’s death when the patriarch, "Pop" died. Carl assumed a new role as an art dealer when he picked up his father's art business, David David Galleries on Rittenhour Square.

One thing that helped Carl and his family move past such devastation is the spiritual strength they found within themselves, their closeness with one another, and the afterlife visitations that Sam’s and Bruce’s spirits have paid them. In part two Carl talks about these unusual visitations that include a twin-engine airplane and audible voice. We will also talk about the soul aspects of his brother and his father that Carl sees in both his sons. Carl says the following about death:
"There is no such thing as death; only a change in form as we leave one world and enter another. The only remnants are the fleshy bodies which identified the soul which resided within. The body is a vehicle for movement, for gathering of earthly experiences, for a full range of emotions, for a total collection of situations, obstacles, and solutions as they are overcome. It is the building which houses our black box; a permanent record of events and lessons which will be taken to the next worlds as we are ready to enter them for the continuation of our education. The curriculum never ends; it just changes format with each accumulation of knowledge from the preceding realm."
There is no shame regarding someone who commits suicide. We should try to prevent it because of the devastation it causes those who love the person, but it has little impact on the soul. We are here to learn lessons. if we don't learn them before the body wears out, we get a new body and come back to try again.

In part three Carl and Yvonne discuss art as a form of spiritual expression. For many years Carl has a mysterious unsigned painting at the gallery. After a spirit visitation at the art gallery about two years ago, he realized the woman in the painting is his maternal grandmother, whom he had never met. Here is a photo of that beautiful painting.
What makes art valuable? Hear Carl's explanation by clicking the arrow in the player below.
The art piece created by Yvonne and Randy Perry (below) is mentioned. Please leave your comments about how this painting speaks to you. There is a giveaway mentioned in our interview, so be sure to listen and take action!

Prayer to Keep Ghosts Away and Help Souls Cross Over
A friend of mine that I met in a Facebook community shared a story about his intuitive gifts beginning to open up. I’ll call him Dee to protect his identity. This experience was frightening for Dee at first because he began sensing earthbound spirits around him while he was in the synagogue. First of all, let me remind everyone that we all have spirits around us—its’ just a fact of life—but most people don’t see, hear, or sense them.
Dee’s story brought a flood of love and joy to my heart chakra. Instead of rewriting and retelling his story in third person, I’ll simply copy and paste what he shared in the group. I’m sensing that someone reading this blog needs this information.
I closed my eyes and sought out to discern the presence. I felt the same confirming sensation I had when I encountered something in the synagogue. I smiled warmly and said quietly, "Well... hello! When did you get down here?" It was a young girl, I guessed to be around 8-11. She was shy and about as startled as I was. She pulled back some but stayed in the room, listening to me. I told her she was welcome to stay as long as she could behave herself and respect some boundaries. With my wife fussing for me to come up to eat, I left her to the room.
Later that evening when putting my three daughters to bed, I could feel her in their room. My oldest daughter, who has been watching me with great interest since my empathic revelation, also picked up on this. We suddenly smelled lilies in one area of the room. There were a few more incidents like that through the evening, each time accompanied by the lily scent.
When I went to let the dogs out later that night, my daughter was outside with me, barraging me with questions. Suddenly I felt the girl’s spirit about 25 feet from us, with a strong scent of lilies again. We both stood there. My daughter said, "She's here again, isn't she?" I confirmed. As the girl walked closer to us I felt her presence pushing into my aura shield. The hair on my arm closest to her immediately stood on-end and I had the obligatory goosebumps to boot. She walked right between me and my daughter, trailed by the lilies. For a few minutes we could sense her in different areas of the backyard. We lingered for a few minutes until it seemed like she left.
The next morning when I awoke, I went back down to the lower level to plop on the sofa for a few more minutes of precious shut-eye before getting ready for work. After my alarm went off I slowly sat up and put my feet on the floor. Suddenly I heard one of the kids' electronic educational toys start up. The spirit girl was playing with it! ;D I chuckled, said “good morning” and told her to have fun. My daughter called me later in the day to give me a brief on how things were going. Her "friend" would come and go through the day.
I recalled from the night before, when I smelled the flowers outside, I also smelled fresh earth. I felt an inclination that she was a recent passing and possibly in need of help. I decided on the way home, I'd stop by a cemetery that was within walking distance of our house. I even felt which area I needed to investigate. Sure enough I found it. Born April 16th, 2000, passed on March 27, 2011. I felt so sad for her. I knelt there and spoke a few minutes out loud. I spoke encouraging words, told her I also didn't understand why things happened the way they did. I said she was welcome to visit with us anytime she wanted, as long as she would honor boundaries. I said with YAH's help I would do whatever I could to help her. I spoke a few more things and finally ended up encouraging her to go to the light, that YAH was there and it would be okay. He'd help her and explain things to her.
When I was at the little girl's gravesite, I saw a mist-like figure walk by. I felt strongly motivated to tell the other spirits not to follow me home. I came there respectfully and expected the same from them. I wish I had a mentor nearby!
As I got home and the night went on, I kept searching for her presence but it never came. A longing sadness began to gnaw at me as I started to wonder what it meant. When my oldest daughter returned from choir, she asked me if I'd sensed the little girl. I told her how I'd been feeling. She started tearing up, and said how when she was eating a bite downstairs she felt a wave of sadness come upon her. We both stood together and sobbed (other family members oblivious to it all). The sadness we felt was not of an evil variety; it was more like the sadness felt upon a loved one's departure. Oy, so much to bear. I never would have guessed a month ago something like this would have happened. Adonai certainly does work in mysterious ways at times, like the old saying goes.
Dee’s wife is angry at him for having these abilities. She avoided sleeping in the same room with him for two nights following the event and hasn't spoken about it since. Like Dee, when I was younger I had no one I could trust to talk to about things like this. My first marriage ended in part because of the spiritual awakening I was experiencing at the time. As a religious church attender, I didn't have a clue what to do about these souls who were coming to me for help.
Other people on the FB chat chimed in with comforting comments about how they also sense the presence of ancestors, friends, and pets who have passed on. Some have had night visitations in which dark entities tried to crush the breath out of them. I had a similar experience when I was in my twenties. I would interact with dark beings during my dream states and be paralyzed as I awoke. All I knew to do was call on Jesus and the angels for protection and comfort. That's exactly what one needs to do--call upon your trusted guidance of light beings who have a pure vibration. They will assist you, I assure you!
There’s no need to be afraid of the earthbound spirits around you. Spirit visits are very common and nothing to be alarmed about. Most are not wishing to harm you. Some souls need help finding the light. I am so proud of Dee for what he did to help this little spirit girl. He did the right thing in setting boundaries with other entities while assisting this little girl's soul to cross over.
Unless you know how to help them, I don’t advise you to acknowledge the presence of earthbound spirits unless you are willing to engage with them and open yourself up to more visits. However, you may be called to do this type of mediumship work, but remember you don't work alone in this task. Ask the angels, archangels, and ascended masters to assist you and surround you with their purest light. Ask them to deal with the lost soul as you focus on the love and light within you. For many years I have assisted earthbound spirits in crossing over. Here is a prayer I use for this purpose:
Thank you, ALL THAT IS, for awakening my divine Ka and helping me merge my higher self with my physical body and to embody divine master presence and Christ self in a loving and gentle way. My body is the temple of light in which Christ presence dwells. Thank you for allowing me to accept and experience myself as one with you.
The Violet flame of St. Germaine surrounds me to deflect detrimental energies/entities. Archangels Michael and Chamuel are in place to help lost souls find the light and cross over into a peaceful place in the afterlife. I trust that this process is occurring without my being consciously aware of it and without having to interact personally with these lost souls.
I have no fear because the love of I AM casts out all fear. I have a sound mind that thinks in line with ALL THAT IS. I am willing to change, grow, evolve, and ascend in order to accomplish my divine mission in this lifetime.
Thank you for allowing me to know freedom from my ego and to be at complete peace.
So it is now and forever.

Is This Our Last Day on Earth?
I heard the rumor about tomorrow being the day prophesied by Christians to be the rapture when those who adhere to a certain dogma will be snatched from the earth and the rest of us left to face the aftermath. Naturally, when this many people believe something, it has an effect upon the mass consciousness of humanity. Therefore, a lot of empaths are sensing fear, unrest, and sorrow. Some are reporting an ominous feeling that something horrible on a planetary scale is about to occur, so I want to address this.
Those whose empathic and psychic abilities are keen, are picking up on the collective fear that is being generated by the millions of fundamentalists who believe that tomorrow is the day that Jesus Christ will return to collect His people. Thus, according to this legend, a vast number of humans will be suddenly exited from the earth in mass numbers by something similar to an abduction by aliens. A lot of folks are panicking about this possibility, but why? Okay, so it could happen, I guess. But, people have cried wolf, saying for a thousand or more years that the rapture is coming. Many have prophesied rapture dates that have come and gone without event.
My personal guess is that nothing catastrophic is going to happen: no rapture, no polar shift, no meteor hitting the earth, etc. However, I'm not discounting that some a huge catastrophic event such as the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and other horrific natural events could occur. We have seen many signs that the earth is rocking and reeling as it nears the center of the Milky Way Galaxy as discussed by Gregg Braden in his book, Fractal Time: The Secret of 2012 and a New World Age
. But no matter what happens, we have nothing to fear. We are spirit beings having an earth experience. We will continue to exist in peace, love, and light in the afterlife no matter when or how we exit the earth plane.
If you read yesterday's post, "Unlimited God," on Whose Stuff Is This? blog, you realize that we cannot be separated from our creator. We are of the Light and will eventually return to the Light--whether tomorrow or a hundred years from now. So, no panic is necessary. Quite the opposite: holding peace and love in our hearts and mind and sending that out to the collective consciousness may very well have a calming impact to help avoid planetary upset on a wide scale. The earth is a conscious living, entity that is effected by the emotions of her inhabitants. Send her the energy of the Love that you are! Be the peace that you desire. Forgive all offenses and see everyone as part of you and God/Goddess.

Is There Any Evidence for Life After Death?
Find out today on We Are One in Spirit Podcast as LavendarRose interviews scientific researcher and spiritualist author Dr. Jan Vandersand. They will be discussing his research and the paranormal events he has written about in his book, Life After Death: Some of the Best Evidence.
Many people do not believe in the afterlife because they say it can't be proven. But what you experience is yours and yours alone. It is not necessarily up for debate, nor does it need proof.
Jan W. Vandersande Ph.D. has described in considerable detail some of the best evidence that he is aware of for life after death. He has based this evidence on his own experiences, which include sittings with trance mediums and channelers, and also sitting quite regularly over an eight year period in a circle in which he witnessed physical phenomena such as trumpets flying around the séance room, direct voice, and ectoplasm. All his experiences are described in detail.
Additionally, three of his close friends witnessed full materializations numerous times and one of them, Professor Jack Allen, photographed ectoplasm coming from the medium as well as two full materializations. These four photographs are shown in the book.
Jan is a scientist and has a technical background that has nothing to do with spiritual matters. Learn how he got involved in communicating with the disembodied spirits and paranormal experiences that provide evidence for life after death such as those he describes in his book.
His experiences have made it possible for him to critically read a lot of the existing literature on psychic phenomena. He has cited numerous cases, which he believes are genuine and are some of the best evidence for life after death. These cases come from channelers, trance mediums, direct voice and materialization sittings. Several materialization mediums are discussed in detail, and some photographs of ectoplasm and full materializations are shown and are compared to the ones taken by Professor Allen. Considerable emphasis is placed on materializations since they are the most impressive evidence for life after death.
The author also considers alternative explanations for these psychic phenomena such as fraud, telepathy and “super-ESP”, but in all the cases he documents the survival of life after death hypothesis is the most likely explanation.
Jan W. Vandersande Ph.D. received his B.A. with honors from Swarthmore College, his M.Sc. in Physics from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He was a lecturer, then an Assistant Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand and then a visiting Associate Professor at Cornell University. Before working at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) –part of Caltech/NASA- for eleven years he was a stock market analyst at the brokerage firm Rodman & Renshaw in Chicago for a year. At JPL he was a Technical Group Leader and worked on power sources for space applications. After leaving JPL, he was the President & CEO of the AMEX listed company Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. for eight years. Currently he is the Director of Communications for the Hi-Tech company VIASPACE Inc. He has had over 80 scientific articles published in scientific journals and conference proceedings and has three patents.
